I used to cry to this song because I could relate to it. Especially where he says: 'and 800 reasons why kept flying into my eyes wish I could say that i killed 'em dead but they're just much bigger than I ' In my opinion, the song is about a relationship ending..and out of the 2 parties, you're the only one trying to make things work out..it's like you're purposefully blinding yourself so that you don't see the obvious and can still stay with the other person..but unfortunately, the latter keeps on giving you reasons to leave, to hate him/her, and to not love him/her.. And even though you can see clearly that he/she's not going to love you back, you want to stick around him/her for as long as you can..until you can't live this lie anymore.. A song written about hoping in vain. A painfully beautiful one. |

I get the feeling that she doesn't know anymore what she's doing with her life. She's come to a point where she thinks she's seen it all and gone through it all. (the reference to hell here; when you've seen hell, you don't think you can see worse) But looking back at the way she actually lived (as if she's now seeing herself the way people do), she realises that there is much more to life than what she thought. She thinks that her problems are not the end of the world now and is tired of running away from them. She finally decides to try to solve them. And now, she's asking for help to do so..from God, from anyone.. She seeks redemption. Because she does not want to end like that. She could be more. She will be more. Beautiful tune. Meaningful lyrics. |
