Beautiful song-
from a more concrete perspective it's about a guy who is over his girl -he already forgot everything she said follows every verse- either a hindsight perspective or-maybe he was demonstrates his general acceptance and tolerance of the troubled, angry neurotic girlfriend and all of her negativity. Of course this is just a guess....I think this could also apply to his experience with someone in a type of "enlightened",self-help or recovery environment. These places often justify crappy behavior and where the entire scope of one's personality can be boiled down to a formula. For Elliott, a tortured soul-this is the death of his spirit.
