After looking at the lyrics I think the song is about your typical problems with lovee I absolutely love this song. I think someone said earlier that this song isn't really about a bird, but it's about understanding delicate relationships and how they work. I think I'd agree with this. The song is a metaphor. "And you're kept in an open cage So you're free to leave or stay And sometimes you get confused Like there is a hint that I am trying to give you" So basically the guy isn't tying his women down... he sort of lets them run free and has faith that they will know who loves them the most, who's their man. |

| Like so many in this thread this song means a lot to me. I'm the guy singing; I'm the guy watching a girl choose other guys over me. She "closed the door" on so many that "could've loved her more". This song is really great... a lot of emotion, and I think it's about growing up, assuming responsibilities, settling down... life isn't always the way you want it either. | |
