| Pearl Jam – Even Flow Lyrics | 12 years ago |

I think it's about the comfort zone and immobility, about wanting to progress but being so jaded that you don't actually do anything in that regard. The obvious reference to a homeless person makes the message more dramatic. The "even flow" might be interpreted as the "even" dragging of time made apparent by the lack of change in day to day life. The butterflies arrive as opportunities and ideas that aren't put into practice. The character only hopes of a better tomorrow, which he doesn't expect to reach by his own actions, hence the appeal to God. He is out of day to day time, which obliges to immediacy and action, but rather he feels himself as part of ever constant flow of the seasons. He does't think about today bot of the upcoming winter. Then again, I might be biased as this is all very personal for me. |

| Sorry if this has been said before, but "turning blue" is a referance to a heroin overdose - your lungs fill with wather, drowning you from the inside, hence the colour. The song is about a person that tries to ignore a loved one's drug problem becouse he or she cannot cope with that fact. | |

| I find it quite obvious that the song is about his dad... | |
