"Everyday I wake up/We drink a lot of coffee and watch the CNN" This is to show he's latest on the news, but also to show he's a little paranoid, because he's drinking a lot of coffee and panicking. "Everyday I wake up/To a bowl of clover honey and let the locusts fly in" I think the locusts in this case, aren't an allusion to a plague. It is more of a metaphor for him watching CNN and "letting the locusts fly in" is having it all be deep in his mind and thinking of paranoid/conspiracy thoughts. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone else. But Locusts are considered not just an annoying bug, but back in 'the day they are a plague that will wipe out all your money and resources. So to let the locusts fly in would to be let him think of these crazy paranoid thoughts. "Lobster backs attack the town again/Wrap all my things in aluminum/Beams of darkness streak across the sky/Paintbrush from the ancient satellite" I think this is him just not quite "getting it." While watching CNN, instead of seeing it all as news. He is seeing it all as "oh man, we're being attacked again." And the wrap my things up in aluminum - that proabably goes with the notion of wrapping ones head up with aluminum to avoid being abducted by aliens. The dark streaks across the sky, and the ancient satellite, is proabably what the person above me put. British spy satellites. Then again, these are just some thoughts I had for the song. Kickass song and band. But for all we know it could be gibberish. |
