| Agalloch – Falling Snow Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
This song is basically about the cycle of life, death and decay. The mountain is built of red birds (former living things) that have died and fallen as snow to form the mountain. The 'character' in the song is now embracing the same fate, to be frozen in time forever in the mountain. |

| Anathema – A Simple Mistake Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| For those who haven't picked up on it yet, the line "we're not just a moment in time" may be in reference to the opening line of Alternative 4 (as in the album), "we are just a moment in time". | |
| Anathema – Don't Look Too Far Lyrics | 17 years ago |

It is known that the underlying concept of this album is the loss of the Cavanagh brothers mother, so I think that this song is about dwelling in the sorrow and misery of her death. Instead of trying to feel better and work through the pain, you surrender yourself to it. "Don't look to far" means you refuse to think about the future and accept that things might get better one day. "If I begin to feel lighter Hold me down And I’ll be yours for evermore" God bless this mess I’m in" This means he is clinging onto the memory of his mother at the expense of his own life, because it is actually the easiest thing to do. However, when he does eventually try to move on ("I sever the line that divides ... I sever between you and I"), he immediately wants to "bring the pain right back again". In my view this song appears to have a connection with Parisian Moonlight, which comes from the perspective of his mother, telling him to "be free of all the pain". |

| Anathema – Temporary Peace Lyrics | 17 years ago |

To me this song seams to sum up the album with the [apparent] suicide of the main character. He is surrendering himself to the sea, and all the lyrics really just sound like the final thoughts of a man who is about to die. Whether he actually commits suicide is anyone's guess, but the hidden track seems to suggest that he doesn't go through with it. |

| Agalloch – Not Unlike the Waves Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The only problem with the rising of the sun interpretation is the incredibly cold and beak music video... Although I guess the "rising of the sun" could be more symbolic of a return to living with nature, in all of its cold, dark and somber glory. The problem with the lyrics is that they don't directly relate to the feel of the music as well as they do throughout the rest of the album. For example, whereas Limbs conjures up images of cold, temperate forests, as in accordance with the lyrics ("It's hymn resonates from tree to tree, through every sullen bough it sings"), the last thing I think about when I listen to this song is the rising of the sun. Still fucking awesome though. | |
