I relate this to having an insensitive, selfish lover. the song starts with "I'm weak when you miss me" because the narrator really wants the person in their lives permanently. "When you whisper me your best moves, I almost believe you..." because the lover is manipulative, using false promises to get what they want. And the narrator knows that it's all false "But you don't know me at all." "Covered by lovers..." I take to mean that because this lover being sung about is not always around, the narrator tries to move on, while others try to make them happy. But all the singer can focus on is "But YOU don't know me at all." The chorus explains a lot about the song. This person is feeling repressed, with all the talk of rain and hurricanes, underneath the weight of it all, while the other person - while living selfishly - sees only sunlight. "I spent days stupid, nailed to your floor..." I take to mean that regardless of how their lover treated them, the narrator remained standing there, taking everything. "Nights pushed against you, tryin' to keep warm..." I think is self-explanatory. But their lover doesn't take the time to know them, regardless of what they're doing for them. Summer means nothing when dealing with a selfish lover. |

Alright. let's put everything together without anyone's personal experiences influencing the interpretation: Boy likes girl. Girl sings song about it. For whatever reason, the girl likes it rough, or at least wants it rough. She wants to feel something strong and powerful, perhaps sort of like how many women have rape fantasies. I really don't think the tissues are because she's crying, c'mon, she's fighting in this song!! She's having a good time - alone. She needs tissues... yeah, now you've got it. This guy that likes her is soft, but she wants a fight to know it's real. She wants to be able to fight and be crazy and still be assured the guy loves her back and wants her enough to fight for her, with her. This guy, on the other hand: his "love is nothing [she] can't fight." Tears with silver lines... I don't think the girl is wiping her tears with "silver lines," rather, I think the silver lines are a description of the tears coursing down her face. She wipes the tears, yet she still wants it rough. Her shine is simply her brazen personality. Prom girl? or just dressed up prostitute. You decide. Nevertheless, she recognizes that this guy is pretty sweet, and so he's "got [her] wonderin' why [she] likes it rough." So she tries for a moment to place blame on him with "is it 'cause you don't mean it?" But she knows... she just likes it rough. :) |

I just found this song. It's fantastic!! I don't think the kissing is significant to the meaning of the song; it's simply about the obsession one person has for another. Perhaps to the other the kiss is simply a kiss, but for our narrator, it makes them fall even deeper into love -or just obsession. The other person can't be "touched" or "hurt" because they simply aren't affected by the contact between the two of them. |

:::sighs::: My ex- dedicated this song to me, and we were going to have this played for our wedding dance. At first, I felt a bit as if he just chose it and I had to deal with it, but with his awesome love, it was so easy to go along with it. I asked him for a break, because I knew that we both needed to grow up (we were only 20) but instead he went to this girl who is a complete b**** (that is not me being jealous; all of his friends wish he would leave her) and he is not leaving her. He complains about her to me every time we talk, and I've given him space, but I want him to move on from her so that we can have a chance. I miss him. But how can I regret breaking up with him?? It was necessary. Now when we bump into each other -about once a year- we still have sparks and it is difficult... He touches me in my heart like no one has ever been able to do. The only one I have loved unconditionally. I've spent years trying to move on, yet when I see him my feelings are always back. This is really rambling. but I needed to let all that out. |

i wondered what "in disgrace of me" meant, and it led me to this interpretation of this song: she admires/loves this guy regardless of the fact that he is self-distructive. he finds complete happiness in going against the grain, as seen in the lyrics "...creation Which he has discovered Uncovered a world Of amazing sensations His own little nation" she seems to want him to be better, and be more accepted. yet at the same time she sees him as an angel and doesn't care that he's frowning or unhappy with his surroundings. she doesn't care because she knows the true happiness he is able to find by being independent of others' opinions. so he may think he's unhappy, but she views him as lucky in a way. get it? haha. "in disgrace of me" still needs some work, but i would guess he is losing respect for her because either she wants to be like him, or she is still stuck in confining to others' views. im guessing the former - she wants to be like him - because she doesn't feel guilty and she's flying at the end. and of course, a bit of self-relection went into this. i am in love with my friend who is so independent of opinions and so strong. but of course, he lets me see his weak side every now and then, and gets mad in a way when i tell him i would love to be like him haha. |
