| Amanda Palmer – Another Year: A Short History of Almost Something Lyrics | 17 years ago |

The cd she mentions might be of interest. On the 2004 version lyrics its Ad Frank's cd (??), on this one it is Bill Kicks. I have been a fan of Bill Hicks for some years; he died in 1993 I believe. However, if Amanda Palmer is 32/33, and she is 26 in the song, a new Bill Hicks cd isn't possible. Bill Hicks was a great comedian (imo) who died out of lung cancer; and long time avid smoker (a lighter a day he claimed), and gave up drink. Not a suicide, he simply killed himself by his bad vices, but when it came to dying, its said he accepted death peacefully, when there was no other options. When personally I am looking for hope in this world, or looking to not take life so seriously, I often watch and listen to abit of his shows. His philosophy was that life is just a rollercoaster ride; it has its ups and downs that are part of the ride, but that people forget they are on it and take life too seriously. Well, I think the reference is ironic. Unless she is referring buying his cds after his death, just getting into them, I think its another smoking and living reference; shes saying she could live till 83, but she would have to stop smoking, and to want to live that long. She wants to enjoy life, indeed. I don't know if I would be happy at 83... |
