Blur – Caramel Lyrics | 10 years ago |
no words, just screams of rage and heartbreak. "AHHHH AHHHH AHHHH" |
Blur – Caramel Lyrics | 10 years ago |
it's actually 'love, love, love' but good comment |
Blur – 1992 Lyrics | 10 years ago |
1. Correction to lyrics -- its not oblique. Damon clearly says, "I was being ugly." 2. The best part is the insane instrumental haze beginning at 2:30 and continuing for the rest of the song. |
Destroyer – Grief Point Lyrics | 13 years ago |
They say Bejar made this after deciding never to record again. I really enjoy listening to his voice speaking, and these lyrics are gorgeous. The words seem to speak for themselves, meaning-wise. It's a very honest rendition of his thinking about music, his career and where things are going for Destroyer, as far as I can tell. The part where he talks about the critical reception to "dreams" (trouble in dreams) is almost solipsistic (who talks about the critical reception of their own albums!?) but in a lovable, Destroyer way. I saw him play this song, and the performance was so fun & spontaneous I almost thought he had just made up the words before going on stage. Listen to this track for a good, meditative head trip. |
Destroyer – Rivers Lyrics | 14 years ago |
If you like the "trouble in dreams" version of this song, definitely check out the Bay of Pigs B-side version, "Ravers," which is much slower and played on a single synth keyboard. As far as this song, it's very hard to tell what it means, as is usual with Destroyer! But basically I think rivers are like life, time, existence. You flow down the river. Some people have trouble dealing with it. And the ecstatic climax of this song, to me at least, seems to say, just deal with it and just go flow with the river! LA LALALALA ALALALALLA LALALALLAA!!! |
Animal Collective – What Would I Want? Sky Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think this is just about the feeling of longing, and the answer just being eternity, nature, sky. It's pretty simple and not the best in AC's ouevre, but it fits really well here. I just love the repeated chorus. It's like a question that immediately answers itself. It's like a question that you realize the answer to as soon as you ask the question. Imagine this: What would I want? (Thinking...) (Thinking...living, walking around, working, getting paid, getting in trouble, getting laid. Breaking up with girlfriend, getting sick, dying.) Sky. As compared to: What would I want? sky. What would I want? Sky. what would i want? sky. what would i want? sky. so beautiful |
Animal Collective – Bleed Lyrics | 14 years ago |
What is the voice saying at the beginning of this song? At first I thought it was Avey tare's voice really deep thanking people for helping the band, but I'm not so sure after listening to it a 2nd time. |
She & Him – Take It Back Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Ohhhh, I've been there. When you're with someone cold, and unloving. you need to get out of there. the whole situation was a first for me and in this song it seems like zooey's been there before and knows what's happening and loves them with her sentimental heart... but wants to move on, and forget. I don't want to wonder whether you love me..... I don't want to wonder whether you care... |
Owen Pallett – Adventure.exe Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Well I think owen's explanation is pretty misleading. Basically I get a very childhood-ish vibe from this song, the sound reminds me of young boys playing together. And Adventure.exe came out when owen was a young guy, and I think its a memory of him playing the game with another young boy or teenager who he's in love with, but can't express that love to. it could be a boy and a girl or two girls. |
Animal Collective – We Tigers Lyrics | 15 years ago |
sex. plain and simple. as this album in general seems to be about college this song is about pairing off randomly, inter-pairing, crosspairing, repairing, and humping like rabbits. All the kids are just like sexual beings or "tigers". Lot of sexual excitement/trying out all sorts of positions or whatever in "i'm like this....you're like this...i'm like this...you're like this..." aka, "you lie here, i lie here. get in this position i'm in this position. you're sexual, i am too. you're alive and human and young, and I am too." and then the rest if just joyous copulation, frankly... |
Animal Collective – Cuckoo Cuckoo Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I find the stuff that people wrote on here really interesting! The miscarriage theory seems to fit a lot, except for the fact that it seems almost too messed up and too horrible and too personal. hard to imagine anyone singing that song live. Check the live version on youtube for a truly insane live version, Deakin still in the band, and Panda Bear just DMTing out on some drums. Interpretation: for me, this song is about getting cheated on by a girl you love. I think losing "my boy" and "the king in I died" are like losing your personality, your happiness, your sanity, etc. The main evidence for my theory is the title: cuckoo cuckoo. As in cucu, or cuckold. I've just always associated this song with being cheated on and just losing your mind and losing everything, and there's like a delirious rage in the music that I don't think would make sense if it was about something else ... that's what it means to me at least. |
The Silver Jews – Party Barge Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think this song is just about the chaos of partying in general!!! Lyrics corrections: "things get kind of squirrelly when you're sleeping in the park" Also: "satan's jeweled lobster has your wife in its claws" I really like the theory about it being life on tour! |
Wilco – Spiders (Kidsmoke) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I saw wilco open for neil young the other night at MSG. I am a huge ghost is born fan (wasn't, until I saw them live for the first time) and think this is definitely one of its best songs. there are a lot of angles to interpret this song through and I think it is beautifully abstract. The lyrics are very confusing. I think we have to try to listen to the music. One image that comes to me listening to this song is intense speed: an image of hundreds of huge, people-sized spiders just racing at incredible speed for the entire duration of the length of the song. Just running and running and running, across the ocean, along their spider webs. The jagged guitar solos sound like spiders feet running along on spider webs. The rhythm and pace builds the intensity. But the absolutely mind-blowing main guitar line...Essentially grabs the listener and rips them out of their body and high into the sky above and throws them around through the clouds and sky for a few minutes. Whatever that means. Tweedy acoustic version is on youtube I believe. |
CocoRosie – Werewolf Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I agree with most things people have said. But I don't think its about molestation. Emotional molestation maybe. But there are no lives about being raped, or things like that -- in fact, there seems to be a lot of sad love for the "father." Its definitely about father, but masculine identity is really mixed in this song. The father is also her brother, and the father has two "sons" -- but isn't that daughters? Coco and Rosie? Check wikipedia. They had a strange family life and didn't even grow uptogether even though they are sisters. Who knows what their father was like. Personally I think the saddest lines are in the second verse. "born child and he was the bastard that broke/ Up the marriage evil doer doing evil from a baby carriage" -- probably their father grew up in a loveless home. "And now he's gots his own two sons / Tries to hide his tears in a world of fun/But loveless bedrooms filled with doom/Bring silent heartache July to June/Swoon over new young hot flame/Mourn the memories later". Now their father, wherever he is, is continuing to live his tragic life, unable to love. the word "werewolf" is used several times in this album. |
