I never heard the song - I just noticed it had the same title as Martin Amis's novel, and was curious to see the lyrics. Anyway I noticed the discussion of the term "agrophile". I agree that the suggested interpretation, field-lover, is legitimate in terms of the form of the word, but I have another suggestion. Maybe it is a misspelling for "agoraphile", i.e.. the opposite of an "agoraphobe", thus, someone who loves (as opposed to fears) wide open spaces, rather than the claustrophobia of the family home, with the mewling baby etc. Just an idea. |
