I literally don't know what one tree hill is but i hate that people know this song from that show that I am assuming is retarded. I'm not completely sure what this song was written about (obviously coke in some way i guess). I think it is about someone who is addicted to coke but the song is glorifying it in a sarcastic (amazing) way. The guitar is really chill and upbeat as opposed to most songs about drugs. so if you leave you cannot go if you leave you cannot go could be describing the attempts to run from the addiction, but you can't really escape that easily. the name "cocaine skin" definitely relates to the "flakes of skin by your hoodie i put in my nose" or whatever. Once you are on drugs, you aren't just getting high - you are drowned in it. In your veins, in your skin, in your heart, in your mind. thats why he basically says he is snorting flakes of skin because the skin is "cocaine skin". He is saying that she is so hooked on coke that he can get high off her skin (I'm assuming he is talking about a chick). anyway, someone write something so i can get someone else's opinion. |

| Radiohead – High and Dry Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| not only is this song not about Kurt AT ALL, but you've got your facts wrong. yes, in the beginning, he used his talent regarding music to pursue fame and wealth, but after he became famous he was basically the definition of ANTISTAR. he then wanted to basically fuck everyone over. he did not kill himself for recognition and to boost Nirvana into the mainstream. He was actually severely depressed. Shocking, isn't it, that suicide victims could be depressed, not attention seeking. Not only that, but in his last years, he actually wanted to fuck over his band as well. As for the album In Utero, he specifically made it so that his fans would hate it. He was incredibly disappointed when it was released and became incredibly successful. As for the end (oh its the best thing that you ever had...etc), i actually agree with you, although i don't think it necessarily fits. His fame did destroy him, and he was under a tremendous amount of pressure from the media and pressure that he created and exaggerated in his own mind. Kurt did say something about using drugs to numb his mind, but he did contradict himself consistently. What most people remember him for is his drug abuse, depression, crazy wife, and suicide. In reality, Kurt Cobain was an incredible artist, loving father, successful musician, and a tremendously passionate individual. Most (but not nearly all) of his music and art was inspired by his chronic physical and emotional pain which is incredibly ironic. His dysfunction was his greatest gift and his heaviest burden. I am genuinely happy you posted your personal interpretation, but I am just giving you my thoughts and the facts about Kurt. If you have any questions I would be happy to answer them. | |

I know that this song was written about Canary Wharf or whatever, but it has a more significant meaning to me. This song has some of the best lyrics I've ever heard, or at least they mean more to me than a large number of songs. my favorite part of the song is the end: "if i could be who you wanted if i could be who you wanted all the time all the time". The amount of energy people spend trying to achieve perfection is exhausting - it wears them out. Also somewhat ironic that the products used specifically for the purpose of fitting in will last longer than the consumers. The panic and desperation that we feel when we are not good enough will take us to extreme measures. Perfection is one of the ugliest most painful contagious diseases in the world. Everyone we see we will judge. Why? Most of those people we will never see again - we will always choose a value for people based on their appearance. They are either better or worse than us. Why? All I want to do is turn and run, but I can't. No one can run from reality. The truth is, there is no one we have to be good enough for in the end. If i could be who you wanted all the time still lingers in the corners of my mind, sometimes always on my mind. In the end, gravity wins. Always. |

| in a nutshell : anthony's addiction and depression. "i don't wanna feel like i did that day" means he doesn't ever want to feel like he did the day he came up with the song (he felt depressed then). | |

| mkay im sorry but the chorus of this thing has been my motto long before this song came out. cuz i don't care what people say about me, as long as i know they're saying something about me. it makes me know im not invisible. and i have so much misery, i dont even know how i manage to be happy sometimes. so i guess i find happiness in misery. and the best of us can. | |

In my dreams I'm dying all the time As I wake its kaleidoscopic mind I never meant to hurt you I never meant to lie So this is goodbye This is goodbye I think here he describes how he is so sorry after breaking someone's heart that he becomes suicidal because of guilt. Tell the truth you never wanted me Tell me This is his excuse for breaking her heart. He felt bad for breaking her heart, so now he tries to make us excuses like "you never wanted me anyway" In my dreams I'm jealous all the time As I wake I'm going out of my mind Going out of my mind This describes how he almost wants her back. He is also slowly becoming out of sinc with the life he used to know, making him feel like he is going crazy. I agree that the background to the song is either "go on it's alright" or "woman it's alright" |

I absolutely adore this song. It has a lot of personal meaning to me. Scar tissue that I wish you saw Sarcastic mister know it all Close your eyes and I'll kiss you 'cause With the birds I'll share This lonely view I do think that it implies self-harm. He is saying that he wishes someone noticed how much he was hurting inside. He was wishing that someone would notice his scars. Im not sure but I think when he says close your eyes and ill kiss you cuz he just wants her to close her eyes and pretend like everything is okay. Kissing her makes him feel better, like none of his "distorted" thoughts matter anymore (?). Then he feels lonely even after kissing her, because he feels like nothing can make him feel better. Then the whole push-up bra part obviously implies a meaningless affair with someone [he doesn't love]. But that doesn't help him either, because he still feels depressed / lonely (hence the "with the birds i share this lonely view...". Blood loss in a bathroom stall Sounthern girl with a scarlet drawl Wave goodbye to ma and pa 'cause With the birds I'll share This lonely view Well that implies self-harm yet again, and then "wave goodbye..." is talking about either the end of the southern girl's life and / or the beginning of a new state of mind (happiness, peacefulness, etc. which is thought to be obtained in the afterlife). Soft spoken with a broken jaw Step outside but not to brawl Autumn's sweet we call it fall I'll make it to the moon if I have to crawl With the birds I'll share This lonely view Im somewhat unsure of how the lines in this verse are related to eachother, but i suppose i will give it a go. Perhaps "soft spoken" means having low self-esteem or lacking a voice to speak up in your life. If you have a broken jaw, generally people assume that you were in a fight. So then it says "step outside but not to brawl" which shows that having a broken jaw doesn't necessarily mean you are a tough sort-of person. The soft-spoken part even suggests that they got the broken jaw from not speaking up for themselves in a situation that should've demanded it. Maybe someone abuses them?? hmm. and the plot thickens....haha. ok so then there's the "I'll make it to the moon if i have to crawl". To me, that means that he will do absolutely anything for his freedom, which in this case creates the metaphor of crawling a long distance through space. But even after that, still the loneliness with the birds etc. which is why he is so desperate to get away from his loneliness and sadness. So, yeah. Just my interpretation. Not sure what RHCP was trying to say, but I try. |
