It seems to me that almost all the songs on this album have some kind of relationship to death. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that her father passed away during the making of it. |

Agreeing with others, I too have seen Dido live and she explains this as a song she wrote when she was young and discovered sex. She jokingly mentioned how she thought singing it to her love interests would get her laid more. |

I have heard her explain live this song and she did mention her friend Mary and that this song became a joke between them. She also said that she would never do any of this and it would make her a bitch. |

Like others who have stated, Dido has in fact many times mentioned that this song is indeed about drug addiction.
I was at her concert in DC when she said something along the lines that many people thought this was a song about romance, and that they needed SERIOUS therapy because she never intended it to be about romance and couldn't see why anyone would look at such an obvious dysfunctional thing to be so. She openly stated that this was written specifically about drug addiction. |

In 2006 Dido's father passed away, which was one year after she started to write songs for the Safe Trip Home album. Many of the songs in the album seem to have to do with death, and the album itself is dedicated to her father.
Usually in concert, she will explain what each song means. Although she hasn't gone on tour yet for this one, I'm fairly sure it's safe to say this will have something to do with the loss of her father. |
