personally, just referring to the opening verse: "It's looking like a limb torn off Or altogether just taken apart We're reeling through an endless fall We are the ever-living ghost of what once was" "limb torn off", refers to something that once was complete, couldn't have worked if it didn't have something supporting it, but it has been suddenly been removed from it's partner with no warning, but "altogether just taken apart" shows that they aknowledge it could have appeared to outsiders that the break up appears sudden, but the couple knew it was going to happen. "reeling through an endless fall", they were trying to make it work but it constantly failed. "...ghost of what was" they both still have feelings for each other and keep thinking of each other, and still think about their relationship and 'what could have been'. i might be completely off the mark, and this song is undoubtedly one of their most beautiful, but i think the first verse is just genius. |

Does anyone else think this song is quite uplifting in a way? "You said, "I'm done feeling like a skeleton No more sleepwalking dead" You're going to wake from this coma You're going to crawl from this bed you have made" The person in question is sick of being in the mess he has got himself into, and is determined to get out of it. Yeah it is quite depressing in the way that he is obviously a drug addict, rapidly losing weight and is depressed, but the song seems to focus on how he wants to change that, rather than what he is going through. amazing song nonetheless. |
