I believe that this song is about the perfect people. By indigo children, he's referring to a perfect human being. He says, "No more need for the old empire," saying that the old empire, that is the world as we've built it, will become obselete when the indigo children, or perfect people, are created. The song depicts an almost tribal theme, as that is what would likely happen with a world of "perfect people." There is no need for grouping together in large scale because there are no enemies to ally against, and the people are content with things and happy with it all. At the beginning, it starts with a rather sci-fi style intro, and he begins by saying, "E.M.P. from the mother and son, tore the digital down, dawn of the age of the indigo children..." I think of this as the coming of a perfect human. As he has no need for all of the special technology that humanity has created, he becomes an EMP to it-disabling it, making it obselete. "Wine, song, food and fire, clothe, shelter, and seed. No more need for the old empire, the indigo children come" is the age of the indigo children, the perfect humanity. Perfect happiness, an endless wave of all positive. |
