Creedence Clearwater Revival – Proud Mary Lyrics 16 years ago
Oh and the song is pretty good too! Took me ages to figure out what it was called, until a drunken karoake night somewhere in Toronto!!

ok, indulge me for a minute... Bit of a geek alert going your way.

Try this at home. For those of you who think with the left hand side of the brain (do a test online if you aren't sure - generally you are quite good at maths, taking words literally and being a bit of a bore, no offense intended) listen to this song and then do things associated with the right hand side of the mind (e.g. watch a film, a play or chat up a chick).

The results are pretty amazing!!

The Stone Roses – I Am The Resurrection Lyrics 17 years ago
Oh god I have run through the same feelings this song has, too many times. What a great track this is.

The message is pretty obvious. A girl who has messed with Ian's (I assume it is Ian) head and esteem once too many.

He struggles sleeping because of the involvement he has had with her. All he wants is some time to think and reflect, then he realises how much of a cow she is. He wants her out of his life as he has lost all respect for her, and her manipulative ways.

Probably out of a desire to be on at least good terms with him, she returns and begs to find out what is going on and why his behaviour has changed so much near her. Ian by now despises her, and her weaknesses which before may have been an object of affection, are now used for personal attack.

He loved her because he wanted company and may have been a loner before, but he just wants to move on now. He doesn't hate her, he just knows he can do better and is struggling to cope with that. The jam at the end is a storm of emotions and rage he is feeling, trying to come to terms with his life and the current situation he finds himself in (and conveniently a pretty damn good close to the album).

It ends with a peaceful guitar jingle jangle we all know and love from Mr. Squire. He feels alive again. Resurrected you might say - beautiful. Ian can now move on with his life. The feelings of rebellion, the anger, the broken relationships are all over - bring on the 90s. I love the roses.

My two pence anyway, based on some of my own (overthought I think!) pretty raw personal experiences. Essay over. R/blade8885
