This song is hard for me to listen to because it's my exact situation, except my ex-girlfriend is the one who doesn't want to be rescued. I've hurt her twice before and she's positive that I'll do it again, so she's going to go through all of the pain (storm) and us not get back together (rescued), so she can reach eventual happiness. It's so hard for me but I want her to be happy. I know I'm a guy, but Andrew McMahon really is my hero. |

it's about andrew's old piano that he played during the majority of his something corporate songs with. the song it basically talking about having to move on to another piano after all of the many good years and songs he has had with the old one. the long-lost friend part was added for effect and to give people something to relate to. andrew talked about this in an interview with absolutepunk. |
