| Faith No More – Ashes to Ashes Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I interpret this song like this: The guy, to the girl, or opposite, are going to tell the other everything. Secrets, etc. "Give the same to me and then I'll be closer" means that they want the other to do the same, by replying with the truth. Perhaps the point of telling the other in the first place was the learn the other's secrets. The increased volume and intensity in "Give the same to me and then I'll be closer" at the end could show that the other is not replying with the truth. I dunno, that's all I could come up with. But I definitely think it's about coming out with the truth to get closer to the partner. |

| The cheerleaders are there to cheer on the guy who "swallows" on. They're cheerleaders, and that's what they're doing, cheering, but in this case, not for a football team. | |

Yeah man, you're totally right, it's definitely the best guitar solo from FNM. He's freaking tearing that thing apart! :] But I'm not too sure that it's the best solo's ever. I think I agree with Phalseprophet, it's about depression, and suicide thoughts. |

| In the music video, it's about a guy planning to do... something at an airport, and when he gets up to the line for the baggage check, a bunch of guards come up and tackle him. Most of the video is in slow motion. | |
| Faith No More – The Gentle Art Of Making Enemies Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Uh, prison rape, seriously everyone? I think this song means exactly what the title says, making enemies. On purpose. Mike Patton has said so in an interview himself, "People think too hard about my lyrics. I'm just the kind of guy who chooses words because they rhyme, and not because of the meaning." But I guess some people have a point when it comes to this album being about prison. |

| Faith No More – Midlife Crisis Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| That's a good thought as well. Perhaps we could agree that perhaps this song could be about all cases of midlife crisis? | |

| Ah, yes, I agree with you. That's what I was trying to say, but I didn't read your post before I replied to these comments. I think that Mike Patton was being over sarcastic, and said the first thing that came to his mind when he said that the song was about Madonna. We all know that Mike Patton talks bs to reporters sometimes. | |
| Faith No More – Midlife Crisis Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Hrm, I don't believe it's about masturbation, drugs, or Madonna. I think it's genuinely about a man having a midlife crisis. Well, basically like I said, he's having a midlife crisis, and he's doubting his life. "Go on and wring my neck Like when a rag gets wet A little discipline For my pet genius My head is like lettuce Go on dig your thumbs in I cannot stop giving I'm thirty-something" This is him becoming rebellious through his midlife crisis. He feels as though he's being used. "You're perfect yes, it's true But without me you're only you Your menstruating heart It ain't bleedin' enough for two" This applies to his love life. This is what I make of it. If anyone can explain it better, go ahead. But, this is consistent with the title of the song, Midlife Crisis, and consistent with Faith No More, in that they never repeat a theme for a song. Drugs have been done already on this album, and masturbation has been done on this album already. Plus, Mike is supposed to be clean. :\ He's not a druggy that goes on and on about drugs. |
