| The Calling – Wherever You Will Go Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| If you really dislike this song so much, and the band that sing it, then why bother coming on this page? It's pathetic that you feel the need to criticise others just to make yourself feel original. Just because something is mainstream, or popular, it doesn't instantly mean it isn't real, and that it doesn't convey true emotion. Which this song does. A song is only as deep as the listener, and if you cannot find anything in this song that makes you feel emotional, then it is perhaps 'douches' like yourself who 'have never gone through this shit'. Don't talk about what you don't understand. | |

I agree with sadXgreenXeyes - its about the Garden of Eden, and the Fall. I think though, it is from the point of view of Eve, commenting on how God, Adam, and men in general have since blamed Eve for humanity's expulsion from the Garden. "Can you see even me, when I'm pushed? Call it a fall and lay all the blame on me." - Eve is commenting how the serpent 'pushed' her into taking the apple, by exploiting her ignorance. Both God and Adam know this, but still insist on calling it 'a fall', as if it was her fault, and not that of the of the serpent. Adam ate the apple, fully aware of what he was doing, yet it is Eve who is always blamed. "From where I'm standing, it's a long way down Up here, at the top of a building Top of a mountain, top of a crowd Watching all the people moving down there in their clothes It's like they're hiding, but there's nothing left That everybody doesn't already know" - the mention of clothes is reference to the knowledge that Adam and Eve received, as is the line that follows. The reference to society and people is talking about humanity as a whole, which if believed, Eve is the mother of all. "I feel alright, I'm not coming down until I remember, and I will remember" — this line sounds almost threatening: “I WILL remember” — as in, Eve will remember what Adam did to her (ultimately, it was him who had them removed from the Garden) and remember the injustice that was put on her. The rest of the song pretty much reflects what has already been said. It is a song of bitter reflection, on the injustice that Eve suffered as a result of Adam, God, and the serpent. |

When i hear the introduction to this song, it always uplifts me. The music is completely magical, it really moves me. To me, this song is about a number of things. Like some people have said, the end of the world, or a great catastrophe: "Baby, it's a violent world" and "Time came a creeping, Oh and time's a loaded gun" both, to me, talk about that. I think it uplifts me, because of its other message - that despite all this, humanity will pull together, and no matter when the end comes, there will still be beauty and love and light in our lives: "Every road is a ray of light, It goes on, Time only can lead you on, Still it's such a beautiful night" (Demonstrating that even as time ticks, there is still time to appreciate life and all that is perfect in it) "Oh love don't let me go, Won't you take me where the street lights glow" (demonstrating that love will bring light and happiness) "I can hear it coming, Like a serenade of sound, Now my feet won't touch the ground" (This is confusing - the coming sound could be the sirens, which are bad, but i think that it is different, a more positive sound - maybe even the beautiful music that accompanies the words? - because, like myself, the sound uplifts, and fills whoever hears with light.) Truly a beautiful song xxx |

| The Ataris – The Boys of Summer (Don Henley cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |

curtains1 - i'm the same as you (except i'm a girl :P).... spent the whole summer with this guy, and it just went horribly wrong at the end... still love him, like you do this girl. The song, to me, is a guy who fell in love with this girl, during a summer romance. They ended, during the summer, and she has had other summer flings, but he still loves her: "My love for you will still be strong/ after the boys of summer have gone". The two verses are him reflecting on the summer, realising the times are gone forever, but hoping there is still a future for them. He wonders if he should give up, or keep on trying. Then again, why should it always be taken from a guys point of view? I love this song, and often look at it from a girls perspective. The girl loves a guy, but during the summer, she had a few flings. After the summer, she realises she still loves the guy, but wonders if he can forgive her. She reflects on how things have changed. Pretty much the same as above, but just a different view. This song to me can describe so much that is going on with me personally.... love it... could easily make me cry x |

| Regina Spektor – Better Lyrics | 17 years ago |

This song always gets me emotional. I'm not really sure what it's about, but I disagree that it's from a childs perspective - the language may be simple, but the ideas are not - I think. "If I kiss you where it's sore/Will you feel better, better, better/Will you feel anything at all?" It's that line that gets me. I think that the girl in this song, she's in love with a guy, but she hurt him, and now he's hurting inside. She wants to make him better, and say sorry, but he's so cold on the outside, he won't let anyone in. Not sure how that ties in with the first verse - maybe 'sisters' is not to be taken literally, but maybe that they once were close, but now he's all closed up. It's such a sad song, I love it <3 |
