This song is definetly my favorite lupe fiasco song, i just find it motivational and inspirational. Overall i believe it is about chasing 'the cool' how people in the real world that chase it are asscociated with negative impacts. Like in the first verse, "When your spirit is strained and you limited to change... Sounds more belligerent when it's sang..." i feel as if it talks about changeing your identitiy, personality in the name of just being cool. And that change i guess is usually something thats wrong, and associated with something negative. In a way Lupe i feel is saying to keep it real, be yourself, don't be tempted to be cool, be honest, face the truth even though it may hurt, cause its not worth it, whatever the actions (wrong) you take, it won't be remembered or praised - "But you forgetting the proof diminishes in the flames" "And they filthy, the deaf ears are the winners" <----the cool "The listeners are the lames" <----the uncool just shows how the real world works, its always the ones that listen, a bit more intelligent that are look downed upon. |

Lmao i dunno if im right but i have this just weird interuption that its about taking drugs or something similar O.o i dunno haha, just some parts of the 2nd and last verse put me off Relationship is just 30 minutes long It's kinda heavy maybe a lil strong "Go and take" much more than once i dunno maybe being high last 30mins? (never been) some drugs are stonger than otheres? take more than ne puff? haha would explan why the chorous is sorta trippy, its th effects... iunno maybe im just really paranoid about the lyrics in this song hahaha. |

Umm to me i reckon this song is about how the box (televeision) brainwashes and dumbs people downm rendering them as mutes, it kinda takes over lives, we belive the media, we mimic (buy clothes, what ever is advertised on TV. i guess in a way thats why its call the instrumental, we don't actually have a say in what our identity is, its all controlled by the box. |

I personally feel that the second verse is about selling out in order to maintain or boost your fame not only in the hip hop genre but as well as the whole music industry. The first line hit me pretty hard "And you better wear your shades" i guess the way i thought of it is like...if you put on shades you're doing it to block out the light. now light i guess sumbolicly represetns honesty and truth, and buy putting on the shades your avoiding all the characteristics of light, thus in a way you're selling out and not being true in your music, i guess in the hip hop industry its sorta like rapping about stereotypical stuff like drugs, cars etc...its dumbing it down in name of greed and selfishness. i guess the idea of selling out is then summed up through the reasons for it and what will eventually happen represented in the rest of the verse like "Most of us don't want it to fade Meaning we want it to grow Meaning we want it to stay Cuz they been waiting since ten to see the lights get dim" just my view on the 2nd verse =] |
