I think that this has a somewhat similar theme to "Walk on Water". It sounds like this is almost a lament for Ozzy, of everyone viewing him as being something "larger than life", when that is not how he sees himself at all. A terrific song. I was shocked when i first heard it, because as mentioned by others, it does not show up on the list of songs for the album. I think that also tends to let one read into this that this song represents some personal thoughts for Ozzy. |

Okay, here is my stab at clarifying some lyrics. Where hen has "Maybe its not too late" I hear "Maybe, it's time to relate." This corresponds with the next two lines. And then where he has "I'm going off the rails of the crazy train" I hear "I'm going AFTER the rails of the crazy train". This makes a real difference in the meaning of the song. That the singer is not just sitting back and taking it, that he is going to try to derail the crazy, hectic, frenzied, greedy, frightened life that we have inherited from cold war propoganda-fears. Note that Ozzy put in a "Let's go" after the first time he uses th line. This seems to make more sense that he is saying I am going AFTER the rails, rather than saying I am going OFF the rails. the onlynother chagne I would submit is taht where he has "I know that things are going wrong for me" I hear I know that things are growing dark for me." Not much real difference in meaning there. |

Okay, first off I think that the lines are NOT "My dromedary dreams as wet as oceans ..With sand dunes bearing seeds she set in motion". I believe it should be "My Londonderry dreams, to cross the oceans, We sail through burning seas, she sets in motion." Remember that Ozzy is British, and therefore the "London" is pronounced differently than Yanks say it. Londonderry is a british seaport. Next, the line "Although you think I can, I'm just a man, and I don't walk on water". What I hear on this is "Although you think I can, I'll just admit it --- I don't walk on water, oh no....." As far as meaning, whether you think of this as being about Ozzy himself, or just anyone who finds themself in the situation of having someone infatuated with them. The other person thinks you can walk on water -- but you are admitting to them and to yourself that you are in fact human. One of my top ten all-time favorite songs. |
