| Hozier – Take Me to Church Lyrics

Although many believe this song is related to homosexuality, the writer of these lyrics tells a much broader story. It is about human sexuality in general and the spin on how many in our society gives it- in terms of how supposedly god views the subject of sex. The indication of being born sick regards a more general Christian perspective that we are all born of sin and that we are sinful by nature. The symbol of a “Church” can split into two separate yet related dimensions. There is the first where it is directed at the hypocrisy that may exist within some of the leaders and members of organized religion. The second possibility is that singer is speaking of worshiping a lover who takes advantage of him and his vulnerabilities to her. She will only feed him conditional love but he is blind to it because she gives him stints of feeling fully human when he is alone with her. In both cases we are seeking for something that helps us feel either fell fully human and more than human. No matter which way you look at it the song is also very much about control. It is about how people can manipulate each other to take control of one another yet everyone also has God given innate nature to be free from one another. We fight in this battle of seeking unconditional love in a society full of people who focus on control and giving love only to those who follow their personal codes. It is a constant struggle that all human beings on this earth suffer from having to deal with one another. It is a beautiful song |

I believe this song is about what happens when we pass away. We spend a little time reflecting on our time when we were alive then at the end of the Golden Path toward meeting our creator, he greets us with an apology for putting us through the experience of being human and living in this earth |

This song is a call out to her god. What else is there? as we near the end of the road we wonder if we are going to transform into something greater after our death, Pay attention to the video, what else is there beyond the basic human needs, and for flashlights ( our intellect inovative inquisitive side) nighmares (uncounciousness or that misterious part of our mind) i think explosions measns our emotional self. could me explosions as in our emotions or how our emotions drive us to explode( in anger happyness, sadness ect... sometimes leading to war,,once again back to explosions. the one wish is to be alive and councious but we are limited to our existense.. all in all it is a very beautiful yet somber song. |
