I think this album is about letting go of things in general. You could interpet all of their songs about religion being false, all the same, looking for signs of a god and not hearing from them. Or you could interpret this album of letting go of someone ie a relationship. This album is very flexible to the listener. From Anthony himself: it’s a lovely decongested feeling, having completed this album. Leonardo de Vinci said a work of art is never finished, only abandoned. (and that thought makes me crazy)but we’re getting rested and making a focused and conscious effort to give up any preconceived judgments of day to day normalcy within each other and our surroundings. Any binding that creates a wall, a misunderstanding -at its true origin. Trying not to hold on to the patterns we‘ve formed in our pasts but creating new ones in places we would of never found alone. Musically we’ve challenged each other to except the natural direction of the creativity that flows between us, aiming to free ourselves from the ridiculous need to please and be pleased by conventional means. An endless task of endless love. The making of this album has taught us all a lesson in personal detachment—- so, we’re titling it, On letting go. What are some things in your lives that you think you could benefit from letting go of ? a- |

| Circa Survive – Always Getting What You Want Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Anthony Green is very deep lyrically. If you understand poetry and read poetry or can analyze literature you'll have great respect for the man. Yes, you are opened to your opinion about saying AG isn't that great, but your most likely gonna be shot down by an extremely passionate circa fan. It's either you get it or you don't. I think he is very unique and courageous for stepping outside of the box and being passionate for what he loves which is music. No-one is musically retarded, they just don't understand or have "tuned in" to circa survive. It takes time to appreciate and understand this level of amazing music. "if the sound it makes when it's tightening sweet winding of of a mandolin hurts your fingers and and you try to hold on but it's not quite working" simply beautiful. I mean come on, most men can't pull lyrics like this out of their ass? |
