Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson – The Debtor Lyrics 17 years ago
I think he's saying: "Oh, growing old."

Evangelicals – Skeleton Man Lyrics 17 years ago
I think you are right to a point, shmortisborg. I think the skeleton ways he describes /are/ the result of past relationships. However, when someone began to love him, skin replaced his bones. As a result, he became vulnerable once again. He was fucked.

No Age – Eraser Lyrics 17 years ago
It seems like this song is about way more than that.

The lines "Gotta see my heart's a darker place // Gotta be my soul's the one who pays" seem like they're talking about something more significant than an auto accident.

No Age – Sleeper Hold Lyrics 17 years ago
Any ideas as to what this means? It seems to me like it's about a lack of passion in anonymous hook-ups. I have no idea. Anybody?

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – Satan Said Dance Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is so literal. There's no need for interpretation.

This song creates a humorous depiction of hell. That's all. Everyone dances. It's just a fun song.

(I'm getting damn tired of reading comments that are formed along the lines of "This is about god..." or "This is about a christian..." Seriously, Ryan: "i think this song is about a strict christian girl giving in and having sex for the first time." Well, then, (assuming logic and textual support are being thrown out of the window)I personally believe that this song is about a Bangladeshi organ grinder teaching a tiger to perform fellatio in a purple, star-filled sky. (hence the "dancing"))

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – Some Loud Thunder Lyrics 17 years ago
^ I'm with you. Though, this is not my favorite song.

I think this song is a response to CYHSY's sudden fame and overwhelming expectations. He's saying that he's just talking at this point. He is admitting, essentially, that he is looking for inspiration.

As the song progresses, he thinks of a few stories and tells the listener that he believes the ideas could be something someday. He is just digging through the quarry of ideas in this song, making holes for the world to see.

I don't think there's anything more to it than that.

The Silver Jews – Tide to the Oceans Lyrics 17 years ago
I would guess that this song is about downers (drugs) in general. I disagree with your idea that this is a love song. I think this is one of the lesser Silver Jews songs lyrically. You say minimalist, I say poorly constructed, meaningless.

The Silver Jews – Trains Across the Sea Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree. This really is one of the best Silver Jews songs.

I understand that it's about a failed relationship, a seduction, and growing old/tired, but I can't really pin the meaning of this one down. But that's all for the best, I guess. It's a part of the magic that is David Berman.
