| I think all Gord is trying to portray in the pale as a lightbulb verse is that he is totally wasted and the "sucking up to someone just to stoke the fire" is liking doing whatever you can to get more stuff (possibly weed). | could be that the song is written about making a porn movie or it could be that we are all just naturally dirty minded so we can take a clean line and make it dirty pretty easily. I'm sure what Gordie was looking to do was make us wonder if it about a porno movie or a regular movie but the idea of the song is having all these regular people from the town contributing to movie (whether clean or dirty ) i.e. the whole taxi driver thing. I think the message of the song might have something to do with how excited everyone gets when they hear a movie is being shot in their town even if they don't like the idea of the movie or what not ( I can get behind anything) | |

I'm pretty sure the first verse is about the young couple starting out and sharing their dreams together and the dress rehearsal line makes sense at the end of that one because they need to live their lives correctly to live those dreams. I think the second verse is sexual since the dirty version of the song that I found on hipmuseum.com goes like this "First we'll climb a tree And maybe then we'll talk I will touch your cunt You will touch my cock Then we'll be married Then we'll be man and wife No dress rehearsal This is our life " this seems to fit closely with the actual second verse snd the dress rehersal thing makes sense here as well since having sex for the first time is a big thing. |
