Flobots – Handlebars Lyrics 17 years ago
i think this song is a story about two friends who both grew up together, and then took seperate paths. one took a free living, life loving course ("Look at me, look at me, hands in the air like its good to be, alive... I can see your face on the telephone, on the telephone, on the telephone."). The other friend took a corporate road, and quickly rose to the top("Look at me, look at me, Just called to say that it's good to be, alive in such a small world... I can split the atom of a molecule, of a molecule, of a molecule"). The corporate friend becomes a world leader, and starts enforcing a dictatorship. The other friend leads a revolution against his former friend (..."my reach is global, my power secure, my cause is noble, my power is pure..."). In the end, the revolutionary friend dies. This story is just about how a few simple changes to people can effect them greatly. They used to "...ride [their] bike[s] with no handlebars..." together, and then they split. The corporate greed got to the world leader, and the revolutionary leader saw that his friend was doing wrong to the people under him.

The video for this song is a great way to sum up my comment. It is where i got my idea from. If you watch it, take notice of the white dove and how many times it appears in the video.

Four Year Strong – Bada Bing! Wit A Pipe! Lyrics 17 years ago
this song is about local hardcore/straight edge/pop punk/punk/etc scenes and about the people in them. there is always going to be a person(s) that are in it for the wrong reasons (think straight edge) and how they bring down the scene. "Turn around and cross the line you so casually walk between function and fashion Are you dressed to kill or dressed to impress? Don’t act like you can do better than this" basically tells them they aren't shit just cuz they dress the same and act the same. In the chorus, Four Year Strong tells them to get into the scene for what its worth, not for the label. "Roll with the punches" basically means to stick with it and they way people treat you. Overall i see this song as a piece of advice mostly. Four Year Strong obviously came out of the local scene in massachusets so they know whats up and have seen a lot of stuff involving people who fit this song perfectly. great song, one of my favorites =]

tell me if you agree!!
