this is the best song ever written. whenever i go through a rough spot i just think "breathe in, breathe out, survive." and i do. i'ts simple, but it works. i wish i had the money, because i'd get those words tatooed over my collar. most times it's all i have. |

the song is about letting go of a love. - to me anyway- "you'll get it right, sometime" means eventually you'll do the right things not to fuck up a relationship, but it may take some more tries.
"i hate this place, i love these chords" means - again, to me, this place may be his apartment or home where she spent so much time or lived with her, and it constantly reminds him of her, "i love these chords" may mean it's all he's got left in his life, so you may as well love what you have. "the pain this morning, it fills my head, it's jameson and it means that i'm not dead." means he's got a horrible hangover from drinking his problems off the night before, and that he feels that pain, so he's not dead/commited suicide. i'm going through the EXACT SAME THING so i may have interpreted it in my way, but i'm living this song right now. daily. |

this song is, to me anyway, a stab at the standard way older americans think. the generation gap is a big thing these days. people ten years older than me (i'm 25) think that my generation is fucked in so many ways but they don't understand that our way of thinking is totally different. we try to accept people for who they are, and mike is a revolutionist, in ways, because he's pushing 40 and saw these things way before his age group did. people hate nofx because they don't understand that having fun with what you do is the best way to live your life. everyone's so angry these days. if you sit back and just laugh in a sadistic way, which is what nofx is all about, you'll ride so much easier. yeah, i hate alot of people for my own reasons, but fuck 'em. if you can't co-exist with them, make them look like idiots.
