to me it sounds like they are writing about a person who knows they are wrong but have so much pride they will not give up on their stance. they talk about how this person is ready for their death but they also bring up ego a lot. "dont concern yourself with things left unsaid" and "god knows you could lose some pride" kind of point in that direction. i dont think they soviet/neo nazi terminology really implies that they are talking about some racist bastard here, i think they are just giving the song some stylistic cues |

i think this song is about relapsing on a drug. the first half of the song is about the thought process youd go through while doing it, like you know you dont want to but you know it will feel so good once you do. a lot of weighing positive and negative outcomes. the second half confuses me. i have several theories about it but none of them quite hit the nail. it could be about anthony green talking to his wife about replacing his heroin addiction with her love and presence. it could also be about how he wants to hide the addiction and lead a normal life, but keep it in the shadows, knowing it has a tendancy to screw things up. i dont know...id like someone else to weigh in |

I always thought this song was about a drug intervention. The first 4 bars are about people telling him hes hit rock bottom but they are there for him. Face is light and cocaine white could be a reference to coke, the drug he may or may not be using. "misleading at most, I'm supposed to imposter a new you" reminds me of how someone feels after an intervention. "now i have to pretend to be a normal person" sort of mentality. "dont stop talking to me, i havent been listening" the protagonist realizes people care about him but the drugs cloud his perception. "This operations been abandoned once again" he goes back to coke. Stop the fuckin' car sounds like a good name for a song about an intervention, eh? I'm pretty sure this song was actually written about an acid trip though |

unlike some people here, i think this song more applies to someone in depression, although it probably was written for bonos father. anyway this song really hits me, and (i hate to be the gay emo kid here) but i was REALLY depressed over the summer (near suicide) and i listened to this song and just broke down crying. i dont know what it did, but after that i was less and less depressive. |

this song in my life doesnt apply to a family member, but i know someone who views himself as so much better than everyone else, and it helps me relate to this song a lot. for example - i was playing guitar at school (i was playing hester prynne by ABRB) and he comes up and says "ooh cool a guitar. thats all you can play, geez..." so i told him to play something better and hand him the guitar. he plays some shitty avenged sevenfold song. and even worse, he cant get a simple rhythm down. of course, he has been playing guitar about 6 months and me 5 years. |

I am catholic, and this is still one of my favorite songs. The way I see it, religion cant control what i listen to. Just because I am listening to an anti-religion song though, doesnt mean i have to follow it, live by its meaning. if you arent catholic, fine with me. If you are pro-abortion, not as fine, but who am i to wave my finger? You have to also keep in mind though that this country was started on religion (look at a quarter, "In God We Trust"). Until about 1960, almost everyone out there was a God-fearing Catholic. then the 60's came, and everyone realized you didn;t HAVE TO be catholic, so people began leaving the religion, etc, and then we get to today, where we are supposedly held back from religion. I think, as with the law, the rules set are meant to set us free (i know, i sound like the biggest dickless anti metal person out there, but bare with me). We are in a new age, where you can do anything nearly and get away with it. I have noticed that being gay, or a different religion is accepted, almost considered cool in places. but if you are a catholic it changes everything for some reason...i dont get it. anyway thats just me. feel free to trash my comment, odds are i wont see this page again. but, let me tell you this is a GODDAMN FUCKING AMAZING SONG. yea...i am also a catholic and I am anti-gay. BUT, I do the catholic way = i do not descriminate against, I respect that people have their own virtues.
