People keep saying how contradictory this song is, and even though I don't particularly like it, I just thought I'd tell you all what I think of it. I think she's kind of talking about her journey through stardom. At the beginning, she's very happy with her life, pleasantly surprised and excited by the little things that fame brings. We flying the first class Up in the sky Poppin' champagne She knows what happens in hollywood though, so she's saying "I won't change," like that scene won't change her. Then she's talking about all this expensive stuff she's buying, but it's starting to not mean anything. She goes to all the parties and to the grammys and shows, but she's still going to try and "keep it real" with her family. After the show or after the grammys I like to go cool out with the family Sippin', reminscing on days when I had a Mustang And now I'm in... Then suddenly everyone is just as overwhelmed with her as she is with herself, she's rich enough to have developed some expensive tastes, with a boyfriend to match. You deserve nothing but all the finer things Now this whole world has no clue to do with us I've got enough money in the bank for the two of us To support your shoe fetish Lifestyles so rich and famous And then, things dive. She can't deal with it, because everyone wants a piece of her. Her father told her not to get involved in that scene, and now she is realizing how bad it's gotten. I got problems up to here I've got people in my ear Telling me these crazy things That I dont want to know (fuck y'all) Damn, It's been a long road And the industry is cold I'm glad my daddy tell me so, he let his daugther know. [x3] I don't think this song is as bad as a lot of her other works, and I think people were misguided in judging these lyrics so badly. |

| When I listen to this song I always picture some sort of mildly drunk society girl running around some unsuspecting poor farm boy, and falling in love with him. I'm realizing that this is actually mostly a flashback from the notebook, but it seems to fit pretty nicely. | |

First of all, I'd like to just say that I adore this song, and that KT is simply genious. Ruby is so right on the meaning of the song but I'd just like to make one quick lyric correction. It says here: never ceases to amaze me when I'm pinching my arm and I still do it with style but I'm pretty sure the actual lyrics are: It never ceases to amaze me When I'm chancing my heart that I still do it with style. whe |

| Ladytron – Ghosts Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Maybe it's just me, but I'm starting to think this song is about a close relationship (whether it is friendship, or more is not clear) that went wrong. The other person did something wrong or unjustified to the singer, or possible abandoned them. I feel that the other person could have even gone off to be date or be friends with the singers enemy(s) who made him or her into a completely different person "made you up and split from one thousand enemies" The enemies later abandoned this person, and now they are alone. "now I see you from the corner clock strikes and I know you will be drinking alone" The singer wants to say sorry, but knows that the relationship is broken beyond repair, and that to say they are sorry would just be a lie. There's a ghost in me who wants to say "I'm sorry" Doesn't mean I'm sorry It's possible that i just made this up out of a situation that is happening in my own life, but thats not a bad thing. I like ladyton's lyrics in that there is a lot of room for making up your own situation. |
