basically he loves her, but likes the "fixer upper" state she is in come on girl i need you (just to try and break you) he needs her just as much as she needs him for money for he quite obvious drug addiction. there is a lot more to it, but that is one of the main points of it. their songs are so good, but the deepness of a lot of them is covered by the catchy pop music... i wonder how many of the "trendy" 14 year old girls actually understand what these songs are about... |

i don't think him "lying" really HAS to do with him cheating. i mean, i could refer to that, and there are probably a million ways this song could be interperted, but to me it means this: the girl and guy were going out. they both used to like each other a lot, equally. then the boy started slowly getting over it and started telling lies and hurting the girl to hint and it without directly breaking up with her, but the girl still likes him so much she ignores it and still wants to be with him because she 'loves' him. eventually, they do break up, and the guy keeps her as a secret 'friend', because even though he tells everyone else she "is so annoying" he does still have some feelings for her. the girl is very sad about the break up and cries and hurts when he's not around, but when they talk she 'laughs and flirts while on the phone" so it seems like nothing is wrong, but still letting the boy know she still likes him. eventually though, she is done with his games and looks for someone else, and the guy pulls the classic "how could you get over ME i'm so AMAZING you picked THIS GUY?!" and wants her back because he can't have her. maybe because now he has a solid excuse to like her again, or maybe because it's just another one of his games. the basic "you don't know what you have till it's gone" story. |

to me, it's about something totally beautiful being created out of nothing. how our ideas can transform into something greater then we ever thought they could the line: "You went from numbered lines to buildings overhead" explains this the best or, life is like this, you are the architect, and you can create what you want, the possibilities are endless. like the cliche "life is what you make of it" made into a phenomenal song. To me, this song is about a hard break-up that really was only hard on one end. While the one who was dumped is heartbroken, the dumpee seems carefree. Dumped still remembers the sweet times, the old traditions, and can't let go and probably can't, while the dumpee is over it right afterwards. The dumped wishes they could go back and do it all over again to show the dumpee it was worth it and wishes they felt the same more then anything in the world. The most hurtful thing is to love and not be loved in return... and this song perfectly coveys that. Personally, it breaks my heart every time i hear it. I feel like I can feel his pain and a little part of my heart breaking for him and for my past experience like this one. |
