Im pretty sure the lyrics to the second verse are i've asked with the right intent and bright eyes but what i can't seem to figure out's how and WHAT I AM i can't seem to handle it the song makes me believe that its about him asking people who believe in evolution to rethink where we came from. and they are going back and forth. "how can you say warmth makes you"= how can you say you evolve from the sun? |

Its not "I swear it’s like trying to catch a ghost, Like I’m dying to hold smoke". Its "I swear it’s like dying to catch a ghost, it feels like I’m trying to hold smoke." Hes trying to point out how hopless or pointless things are. Dying when youre trying to catch a ghost is pointless because you are just a ghost as well and making it impossible to catch. And its impossible to hold smoke because its not solid. Its gas. Listen and you can hear it as well. |

I really believe this is what was going though his head. "For your futures sake, I’ve got advice I’d advise you to take Don’t keep betting, “well, its gotta light me up sometime” You lost your turn" Hes tying to tell you to stop believeing that your faith is going to come in handy one day when you really need it, because it wont, and you'll "lose you turn", and if you dont realize it, you'll just keep epeating this cycle of 'hope' and 'let down'. "All I wanted to be was one of your childen. All I wanted to be was one of yours" Hes sarcasticly talking to no one. Hes saying I wanted to beleive in you, but you gave me no signs of existence. "See how clean the water is where you are, Wash off your handcuffs" To eveyone that believes in 'Him'. There is nothing hiding in the 'water'. There are no mysteries. See how easy it really is, and get rid of what binds you to "him". "And know the hidden messages you hear, they aren’t real. You tricked your mind to feel." Believers, when you dont get your little miracles, you dont blame god, you over look it. But when the smallest thing works out, you rejoice because he is on your side, he made that little miracle happen, and theres no way it was coinsidence. This is how youve 'tricked your mind to feel', you think he is doing everything for you. Wash off your handcuffs and see how you can also survive while being independent. "Are we even now? We are sophisticated animals that got lucky millions of years ago. "If blood is thicker than water Then you’ll drown quicker than we intended" If being blood related is a better way of saying that we all believe in a lie, then those who beleive will drown (be let down) harder than those who just have already given up thier faith. You won't change our mind, and when it is proven that there is no god, the people who didnt belive will be saying 'told you so' and 'we were here all along'. also, you will know where to find us, because we are all going to die anyway. "So we can begin agian." So we can maintian the cycle. Back to the "its got to light me up sometime" Hes feeling that hes going to be caught hoping his faith/luck will kick in one day. Its the CD's title track. It means something to Anthony and the band. They are in need of a way of "Letting Go" of someone. God maybe? Think about it. |
