| Always thought this was one of the most interesting pieces Pete wrote, and also wondered about the significance of 5/19/1945 besides being Pete's D.O.B. Turns out that, while not a significant date to Albert Speer, it IS the date that Philipp Bouhler was "deleted". Bouhler was the leader of Hitler's euthanasia program, and would have been tried as a major war criminal if he hadn't committed suicide on 5/19/1945. Did Pete confuse the two, or did the name "Philipp Bouhler" not fit the lyrics as well ? "On the nineteenth day of a Spring day in May, Philipp Bouhler was deleted." Works for me... Pete? | |
