So much going on in this most amazing song... and so many images to conjecturize about. I memorized this in an attempt to play and have repeated the phrases many times. Generally speaking I figured it was about some guy who couldn't sleep or do anything but think about these various problematic scenarios and heartbreaks... perhaps becuase he's on drugs (as my conscious explodes) or maybe just lovelorn. Who can say, but Bob? |

Well you gotta ask yourself would a skinhead like bowling? Especially considering the racism they are known for? This is a sport wherein a big black ball (or other colors if you may) will knock down 10 white pins with red necks. That's why Nat X likes it better than pool. |

This is not the original Camper Van Beethoven song. Perhaps it's a bad translation or maybe Bradley Nowell is having a little fun with it (just as he does with other covers like Scarlet Begonias). Anyway it sounds like a tripped out mess. Just some images, and references to acid use and western imagery, and the eye of fatima. This is a symbol used in to protect against the "evil eye" in Islamic traditions.
Fatima is the daughter of the prophet Muhammad. Who is the character in the first verse, he just shows up and disappears?
