its about a friend helping a friend. the one friend does something (whether it be rumors that hes gay or hurts somebody or just has an unexplainable pain) and wants to forget it all and dump the memories out of his brain by ending it all. the other friend cries out wanting to help.. he doesnt care if the suicidal friend will hate him for intervening, he just doesnt want to see this happen. its almost like the helper overcame something in the past as well and he wants to pass on wisdom. its just secretly he knows he has no power over the suicidal friend and that no matter what he does there will always be something that he will never know. just the riffs are deep and full you think into it... its powerful. it makes you think a lot. a kid i knew at my school jumped off a bridge...its times like that that you wish you could just have them hear that song and realize they can put it behind them. |

I dont think alcohol is what the singer is referring to. Alcohol is just like a metaphor i guess you could say... he compares the drinking to the failed relationship. "And there's a memory of a window Looking through, I see you Searching for something that I could never give you And there's someone who understands you more than I do A sadness I can't erase All alone on your face." She knows he's not the one, and he realizes that too. He knows she wants something he doesnt have, and vice versa. Getting clean means he wants to bring everything back to what it was before... he wants to get that dream of her being the one back. the alcohol simply is a means to hide the fact they both realize what needs to be done.. |
