and by "breathe fire down on you" i think he's referring to open, unbridled passion and love. he's going to breathe fire down on her and bring her to life. |

i agree, this is an amazingly catchy and meaningful song. i think it's him singing to a woman who has found someone to love (him) but is choosing to be "scared straight" as he calls it - detached and a little repressed because she's afraid of being hurt again. he's trying to convince her that she has something to live for, and he is waiting for her to realize that. the line that first really caught my attention to this meaning was "you were hurt, so you got hard" - really poignant and one of the best parts of the song. |
