| Yeah, what they said. Owens is using biblical characters and speaking as if she were them. It's a perception of whatever you believe God may be telling you to do, trust in Him to carry you through it, because He will. If you think God is asking you to do something crazy and impossible, imagine how Moses, David, and Merry felt... | |

I could be wrong but seeing how they have other religious songs, to me this seems like a religious song: "Prison gates won't open up for me" "Well I'm terrified of these four walls These iron bars can't hold my soul in" It's talking about his physical body being a prison for his soul "On these hands and knees I'm crawlin' "h, I reach for you" "All I need is you Come please I'm callin' And oh I scream for you Hurry I'm fallin', I'm fallin' " He on his knees (praying maybe?). He reaches for "you", maybe God? e's all anyone ever needs... He's going through some terrible times in his life or something ("I'm falling") and he might be calling out to God ("I scream for you", "Come please I'm calling"). So he might be praying for God to save him... "And teach me wrong from right And I'll show you what I can be" Talking about morals here, and living a more righteous life... "Say it to me And I'll leave this life behind me Say it if it's worth saving me" When you accept Christ you are reborn, you are a new person and you old self is left behind. Like many people if they are turning to God for the first time they are not sure if they are "wothy" (when really every single person is, no matter what you have done) and he's saying that there when he says "If it's worth saving me" "Heaven's gates won't open up for me With these broken wings I'm fallin' And all I see is you" Maybe reference to Heaven... can obviously be a metaphor but to me he's saying he knows he can't get into heaven without God, so that's why he is praying and calling out to God (again this is just my opinion on this song....) "These city walls ain't got no love for me I'm on the ledge of the eighteenth story And oh I scream for you" The world does not have true love for anyone and maybe he feels empty. On the ledge of the eighteenth story is a metaphor for he's at the end of his rope and can't take it anymore.. this goes right back to his body beign a prison and praying on his knees and asking God to save him... "All I need is you Come please I'm callin' And oh, I scream for you Hurry I'm fallin', I'm fallin', I'm fallin'" He's at the end of his rope and knows he is in trouble so he needs God... All makes sense if you interpret every stanza :] |
