Beck – Chemtrails Lyrics 17 years ago
I was shocked to find out Beck knew about chemtrails, because I believe the whole thing, and I'm delighted to find that the song gives off the same sick/strange feeling I get reading or seeing them.

The Killers – Jenny Was a Friend of Mine Lyrics 17 years ago
This song makes me cry.

Stone Temple Pilots – Plush Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song was in actuality inspired by a girl who was found dead somewhere in Seattle.....but to me the song just symbolizes moving on and starting over with life, and trying to forget/run from/obliviate all the pain you ever experienced.

Alice in Chains – Heaven Beside You Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this is about someone you're close to, and over time, you drift. You begin to see them for what they are and you realize they're more of a wreck you could ever be, and that you're above them.

Maroon 5 – This Love Lyrics 17 years ago
I've always thought this song was about dating a girl with like, borderline personality disorder or something, where she's just a wreck and the relationship is chaotic and the singer is not even sure what he's feeling anymore because she's so confused and making it difficult.

Sara Bareilles – Love Song Lyrics 17 years ago
Ugh, reminds me of my ex. He was always trying to get me to do little things to make him happy and would threaten to either leave me or just get really mad/upset at me if I didn't. He wasn't abusive or anything, it's just that the relationship was all about him and making him happy and I could never do that. So I dumped him and it turns out he was cheating all along.

This song to me is just about a boyfriend who just doesn't treat you nicely, flat-out and simple.

Flyleaf – So I Thought Lyrics 17 years ago
"A year goes by, and I can't talk about it"...
wow, that lyric hits so close to home for me...

I do think this is about a failed relationship or some kind of disappointment and finding peace through God/Jesus in the end, but personally, this song reminds me of all the things I've had to overcome and how sometimes I still do want to sit and cry over them.

The Smashing Pumpkins – Rhinoceros Lyrics 17 years ago
God, amazing song. I love Smashing Pumpkins. They make the simplest lyrics sound like the most eloquent words ever spoken.
Anyway, I personally always saw this as from the point of view of a man who's cheating.....and though he hasn't told his girlfriend/wife or whatever, she somehow knows. And he's filled with remorse because he knows she knows and it's killing him because he knows she's hurt, and ultimately he chooses to leave her because he can't stand it anymore - "I should go, see you in June", representing perhaps a transition back to friendship without him ever verbally telling her about his cheating. Just the somber feel of the song reminds me of love and the numb sort of pain that comes with it, and all the added things resulting in heartbreak for one or both parties.

Beck – Nicotine & Gravy Lyrics 17 years ago
I'll admit I'm not POSITIVE what it means. Honestly though I see it as a way of viewing life...."it takes a miracle just to survive", "Things don't even faze me", "I don't wanna die tonight"....but I can see how people interpret it as a sexual song or something, but that's part of life. It's just a view of how we all thrive and cope.

Either way, it's my all-time favorite song. Amazing. Beck's amazing.

The Fray – How To Save A Life Lyrics 17 years ago
I first heard this song and didn't think much of it. And then my friend killed herself and this song has taken on so much more meaning. All the sentences, all the drawings/stories, all the song lyrics, hell, all the myspace bulletins I ignored remind me that I didn't know how to save a life.

Shinedown – Second Chance Lyrics 17 years ago
This song makes me so upset. Although it is about leaving home/family for the first time and stuff, I see this song as the point of view from a suicidal person. I had a friend who commited suicide back in August of 2007, and it breaks my heart to know this may've been what she was thinking, especially because I know she didn't truly want to die. I've been suicidal myself but her death really woke me up.

Hole – Boys On The Radio Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is about watching someone you truly love destroy themselves.....possibly written after the death of the said person. Reminds me of a boy I know, hah.

Rihanna – Disturbia Lyrics 17 years ago
To me this song represents being controlled or dangerously obsessed by something. I feel this way with my storylines, since I'm a writer. Most of them are horrors and when I get an idea, I feel trapped and suffocated in my mind for however long I keep the story going. Sometimes the feeling never leaves. I'm pretty much a wreck by now, haha, and most of the time my mind is just in a controlled and disturbed state.

Which is why I really like this song. It means a lot to me.

I agree with what russimal posted. Either way, crazy sexy song. I love it.

Alice in Chains – Fear The Voices Lyrics 17 years ago
I just see this song as a song about psychosis (hearing voices, being paranoid, delusional). I don't see the supposed media allusion or anything. The chorus flat-out says "fear the voices", and having been psychotic myself once I know what it's like to fear them. One line goes as "so they put your number on the television, Mr. Gardner.....a messed-up generation put the pressure on you, you're a coward". That states the paranoia that people are watching you and are after you, and the delusion that people are pressuring you or doing things to you. I don't get why everyone always looks for these crazy deep meanings, like "OH MY GOD IT'S THE MEDIA" or whatever. It could be that, but c'mon, I doubt it. There ARE some AIC songs that are blunt, y'know.

Limp Bizkit – Behind Blue Eyes (The Who cover) Lyrics 17 years ago
To me this song is about doing many things that seem awful, but in the end are for the better. Along the way people will hurt you and tear you down, and you don't even get a thank you in the end.

Gnarls Barkley – Crazy Lyrics 17 years ago
This song came out around the time I started to slip into a depression. That depression escalated into psychosis and ended in me being institutionalized for a long time. Perfect timing, huh?

I think it's about feeling like you're losing your mind. Not too many hidden meanings here. When you have a mental illness often you think you are right or you know things others don't. That is described in several lyrics, and this song rather suits me since I've been to hell and back, all within my mind.

Sneaker Pimps – 6 Underground Lyrics 17 years ago
This song for me represents the troubles in being a genius, yet only you can see it. I can't put it into words, but it's where you know you're smarter, more mature, more talented, just......DIFFERENT from everyone else, and there's no exception. Slowly you begint o think you're better than everyone, and you begin to get sick easily of other people. Eventually you push everyone away and are eager to get out of their presence, because you have realized you surpass all their abilities. You end up living your life alone because you're just sick of the simplicity of everything. You are better than them, so you avoid them, and you lose faith in humanity after awhile.

Just my take. At least this is what the song says to me. I've been there before. I'm there now.
