A few comments here on several phrases: "Boxing Clever" means literally, to fight with your mind instead of your brawn. The phrase, "When she's pressed she will undress and then she's boxing clever" suggests that she is fighting with her mind, ie, winning. Combined with the leather comment, this may be a hint at a S |

| The Delgados – Ballad of Accounting Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Oh dear, these lyrics are horribly off. In the morning we built this city In the afternoon walked through its streets Evening saw us leaving We wandered through our days as if they would never end All of us imagined we had endless time to spend We hardly saw the crossroads and Small attention gave to landmarks In the journey from the cradle to the grave, cradle to the grave, cradle to the grave Did you learn to dream in the morning? Abandon dreams in the afternoon Wait without hope in the evening Did you stand there in the traces and let them feed you lies? Did you trail along behind them wearing blinkers on your eyes? Did you kiss the foot that kicked you? Did you thank them for their scorn? Did you ask for their forgiveness for the act of being born, act of being born, act of being born? Did you alter the face of this city? Did you make any change in the world you found? Or did you observe all the warnings? Did you read this trespass notice that you keep off the grass? Did you shuffle off the pavement just to let your betters pass? Did you learn to keep your mouth shut? To be seen and never heard? Did you learn to be obedient, and jump to an a word, and jump to an a word, and jump to an a word? Did you ever demand any answers? The who, and the what, and the reason why? Did you ever question the setup? Did you stand aside and let them choose while you took second best? Did you let them skim cream off and then give to you the rest? Did you settle for the shoddy? Did you think it right, to let them rob right and left, and never make a fight, never make a fight, never make a fight? What did you learn in the morning? How much did you know in the afternoon? Were you content in the evening? Did they teach you how to question when you were at the school? Did the factory help you grow, were you the maker or the tool? Did the place where you were living enrich your life and then did you reach some understanding of all your fellow man, all your fellow man, all your fellow man. |

"Love hurts… But sometimes it’s a good hurt And it feels like I’m alive " Love hurts but it has too. It's good that it hurts. These two things are connected. (My 2 cents all the same) |

| The Delgados – Keep On Breathing Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I love this song. It's about humanity and happiness and life. "A woman sees her friends continuous distraction, she fills up the days while she waits for phone calls." People complain about their friends, but they wait for them and depend on them all the same. The entire song is about living, from a basic human perspective. "Just another list of consequences of things that we do Just another hit of happenings that we have to live through In and out of all the reasons and all the whys and wherefores We just want to keep on breathing." The chorus is very revealing - no complexities, no truth or deep meaning, just life. Simple happy life. |

| The Delgados – The Light Before We Land Lyrics | 17 years ago |

"Before we let euphoria Convince us we are free Remind us how we used to feel Before when life was real" I believe this is the key part of the song because of the change in the music itself. The entire song is about freedom, but also choosing slavery - Not wanting truth. "When things that were once beautiful are now glad" - Happiness isn't the same thing as beauty, that sometimes the regular, or even the ugly, leads us to happiness. "In truth there is no better place to be Than falling out of darkness still to see" - There's no better place to be then when first coming to see truth, that truth itself when it's first illuminated is the brightest. "And when I feel like I can feel once again Let me stay awhile Soak it in awhile" I think this part is important because it's talking about wanting to cling to normality, which isn't always the same thing as truth. |

| Thrice – The Lion and the Wolf Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
The wolf, who shares "your bed" and mocks "man's best friend" is a cheating female (or generic lover all the same) and the lion is the person they are cheating with. There's this harshness, this anger, this force outside, and someone disguised in your bed. |
