| this song is so genuine, and sad. he is trying to get over this girl but how is he supposed to if she won't just admit to him that things arent going to work out between them? he doesn't want her sympathy, he doesn't want her help, he only wants her love. she is trying too hard to be a "good friend" or avoid bluntly rejecting him but the truth is, how she is "playing along" is breaking his heart even more. it would be less painful if she would admit to him her feelings, that way he could "sail" on and not continue his life with a feeling of longing and pain. | |

awhh i love this song. he really admires and wants to be with this girl, woman, lady, whatever. but she is such cautious person he just wishes she could "lay down her guard" and be willing to experience the love and, possibly the pain. i mean, to be realistic, not many relationships are going to last forever. but if you aren't willing to risk the pain when it ends, you won't ever experience the beautiful love and connection either while it does last. and he just wishes she would be willing to do that for him. |
