Set Your Goals – The Fallen Lyrics 17 years ago
This might be completely wrong, but I think this song is about Peter Pan in the movie Hook. They have a very good reason to write a song about it too because they are obsessed with pirates. I think this song is about how Peter Pan grew up and forgot about being a young kid in neverland and how he went against everything he swore not to do as a kid. Here are some lyrical clues.

"Tell me are we flying? Are we falling to the ground?
If tomorrow doesn’t come, did we die for nothing?"- in the movie when he is learning to fly he falls continuously until he remembers how to and he went into the alternate realm of neverland and if he doesnt save his kids he isnt sure what is going to happen.

"You said you started up this home because you didn't like the way these kinds of things were run.
You've said you understand the work it takes to make us grow.
If you had then where were you?
We've payed our dues without you."-This shows how when neverland was first created peter lead them all as the head lost boy but he swore he would never grow up and he did which shows how they carried on without him and followed rufio the new head lost boy.

"Some stop feeling love for all the places they come from.
A person I will not become.
A jaded liar, unforgivable.

Some stop feeling love for every word that they once sung.
May I never lose my youth and If I do, may I be forgettable."- Shows how he lost his love and passion for neverland which was where he came from and that he lost his youth by leaving and they all forgot about him. He was a jaded liar that they could not forgive.

"Am I the only one who sees all of the deceit and festering hypocrisy?
Don’t ever talk to me like you think you know me or what I've been through.
I am nothing like you!" again shows the disapproval of his return by the lost boys who he abandon.

"But I can't stop feeling love for this place we both came from. and I will never lose my youth.
All of this is too unforgettable." shows how in the end he finally remembers how to fly and remembers all of his times with the lost boys.

Its probably wrong but its just a theory because i know they love pirates and when i heard the line "You've said you understand the work it takes to make us grow." i thought he said crow instead of grow and i know in hook the lost boys all knew how to crow and this is what lead me to think this theory of the song. either way this song fucking kicks ass and i can't wait until the new album comes out. fuck yeah!
