nope its defo 'we toe the line' (as in the old expression) To toe the line, is to not step over it or 'cross the line', its about conformin to the set standard ! so it makes all sense, it fits with the idea that this song is about enjoyin life, chalanging life, and not being scaired that things might go rong, 'cos when they do we cant always re-bild it and start again ! |

considering the bands split up now, the lyrics are pretty hard to get hold of. these are the only ones on the internet but some bits are wrong e.g Ive got a feeling that youre gonna keep me up all night no what are ya meaning.... and so on with the original, however you can here the right lyrics if you listen to charlee drew's acoustic version so yer, im glad you looked at these lyrics to be reading this, this band was amazing, its a shame charlee quit, but if you ever get the chance to go see him you should as he still plays some freefall felix, but of course its not the same! |

too true, they are the right lyrics (and grest lyrics at that) easy mistske to make tho, 'a thousand buring suns' is right also the vidio is clever for this song, i can see how it could be seen as a bit tacky, but i dont think it is. one of the best vidio they have done, at least its intresting to watch and means something real P.S (and how the hell did they find a kid that looks a suprising amount like bush) |

Bayik you lyric dose sound alot like that is what he is saying, however in the booklet with the album "like a rose in a storm" is the lyric writen by the band. but you never know, bands often change and sing lyrics on the spot differently, so good point. |

I think its about the little people in society that are always ignored but keep going and fix every thing thats wrong, hold it all together, help us keep going, but are never given help when they need it back. I think its bridge is explaining how if they just keep going and stand for something real and important eventually their time will come, if they never give up and keep doing whats right, it will one day all go in there favour. So yer, people ignored, but hold it all together, but there time will come. sound right?? (great song, great album) |

lyrics correction. In death we justify anything now. It just about rebellion and fighting for and standing up for what is right the verses are saying what we need to stand up to ! |

I thinks its something different from all of you. ( well a bit like drako75 ) i think its written in the future, about how hes old now and looking back on an old partner, and still can get over her even though it was a life time ago. 'But seldom do these words ring true when I'm constantly failing you' he hasn’t lived like he said he would, like she tried to teach him to save him and he feels like hes still falling her all these years later. 'Bathed in flames we held the brand uncurled the fingers in your hand, Pressed into the flesh like sand' she’s burnt in to him and he can lose the impression she made on him, he can forget her. 'If this ain't love then how do we get out?' he talking to him self, hes trying to figure out why he cant forget about her, how can he escape from his obsession with her. What do you think of my idea, i would appreciate your comments!! |

| Rise Against – Swing Life Away Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I feel as a true RA fan, it is my moral duty to comment on this song, as its so totally iconic. i find it kinda sad, as its about not moving on with life. i dont think the song is about any point in time inparticular, the first lines is nothing to do with them arguing, its just him asking if she’s understanding what hes saying, its written as if hes signing it just to one girl, when there alone together. but i agree its mainly about just staying where you are in life and being happy because hes in love and enjoying it, so not feeling that they have to move on at all. def one of my most favourite songs ever, its just perfect. I don’t like the version on SSOTCC as much, but that’s cos i herd the other one first and that has the most meaning to me. |

| Rise Against – Hero of War Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think this song is much harder to find a meaning for than it first seems. i thinks its trying to say that war seems like a good idea from the out side, from a young boy who wants to live in his computerised war but never really realises what war asks of you. The stories are demonstrating that war turns these boys in to soldiers that do what they have to to survive, and takes so much from them. I think its aimed at the public that underestimate war and don’t understand the soldier and can appreciate all that’s he has done. And now he can’t take back or forget all the bad things he has had to see and do. ‘damn proud of me’ - these the most powerful lines, it almost seems angry that there proud of him, like being proud means nothing compared to what hes done for them, that they don’t understand what there proud of. I also live the chopper noises at the beginning if the third verse, very affective and clever. |

Yer i kinda see what you mean, overall i think its about, accepting what life throws at you and getting on with your life. The chorus is just an example of things going really badly wrong and people not complaining about it, a bit like in Bangladesh, and just realising that life goes on and they just need to fix whats broken and start over again. Like i said its kinda like a similar meaning to Survive for me, about not feeling sorry for yourself. i like what you've said bout the 'like a child un-born' bit, i no rise against are pro abortion. i thought of it more like as a child un-born is a beautiful thing witch is yet to come. Like you said about saints being killed, if they re-born it would be a beautiful thing to look forward to, same with the child un-born, so it ties in with getting on with life and looking to the future. I just love rise against so much, i dont understand the critics of the new album, i thinks it amazing, and this song can have so many different meanings to so many people its just a master piece. thanks for you reply ! |

It on my Appeal to Reason, but im from Engaland, and it a bonus track at the end. now ive read a bit more i kinda agree with Rutlin, its about gettin on with life. Just like Suvive (we've all bin sorry , we've all bin hurt) its about not feeling sorry for yourself. Like a saint re-born, Like a rose in a storm, Like a child un-born, all butiful things, still to come, what you think?? |

Rise Against Talk - importskyline22 - whats rong with the world, how come only we can see that this is just as great as all there other stuff??? ive seen some huge sell outs, this is not one, its meaningful, its strong, its makes me proud to love them, i think if nething they got better, you can really appreciate his voice more, and the great guitar / drum lines. Song Meaning Talk - I think it about someone whos board with there life and wants a change, they want some think to come and change there world as there stuck and fell like there gona wait forever to start living. 'im falling thru the cracks I slip' shes getting lost in the nothingness of boring every day life. 'she got down on hands and knees, one ear against the ground' Shes desperate for something to change, to take her away from it. to me its about being trapped in your own life. |

Appeal to Reason. i don’t think its about flooding literally, I thinks it’s a kinda metaphor… not really much of an ider of what tho, its one of those songs that you can fit your own meaning to I think., about rebuilding something important , or saying ‘bring it on world' |

layinginthegrass + afipunk84 are right, i thinks it bout acsepting somethings just arnt ment to be and having to finaly give up on it. I prefer the acoustic version of this song; I think it suites being sung softly and sadly. |

I love this song, the lyrics are just like classic RA. the new songs are as great as ever, im not a big fan of the real hardcore stuff by them, but if u love them i guess you'll like all there music. its still very like them, and it a fun song to sig to with mates! NEway, i thinks it bout beeing so keen to run away that hes done it with the rong person, now hes realised hes stuck there now and he can see everything hes done rong and it a song about having to live with his mistake. |
