the song "jet ski accidents" mentions jet ski accidents. "the democracy of small things" makes better sense for the lyrics/content of this song, so i find it hard for one to believe this could be miss tittled.

i'm pretty sure one of the members at one point became a born again christian, springing up a lot of biblical references halfway through their career as a band. i'm not 100% sure about this, or even which member this may have been. i just remember discussing this with my sister some years ago (she was either friends w/ someone in the band or friends of a friend. not sure.) so in short, this may really be about the end of days, and kurosky hoping that his band member may be wrong about it coming. (im not heavily religious. this is all just my interpretation.)

i always thought they were named after the street Beulah in San Francisco (their & my hometown). and this song is very much not about a girl. it's about punk rock, and their first real discovery and love of a musical genre.
