I think it's just about the media and perhaps the element of spectacle. I might even say it's about the internet slowly replacing traditional media but that's ridiculous. They took a place that's a symbol and personified it, it's basically open to interpretation. |

I think I figure this one out (my previous comment failed pretty hard due to some weird symbols I used.) Tried of dull ages, I walk the same ground, collecting the tragedies still Hollow ambitions in a hollow mind carried my cross to the hill Discription of a stale life, an unwanted reality. And how I lust for the dance and the fire deep of the nectarine sunset to drink spill me the wind and its fire to steal of the colors - I'm the moonshield He longs for the good things in life, the beauty out of his reach. Where he says "to steal of the colours" he means to take something from this beauty where he could have nothing else. (a willingness to settle for less). "I'm the moonshield" describes his unwillingness (shield) to accept the subtle, but complete, beauty that is already in his life (the moon) Shattered hope became my guide and grief and pain my friends a brother pact in blood-ink penned declared my silent end First two lines describe the pain this way of living brings him. The following two lines describe his own insignificance through his unwillingness to let go of what is out of his reach. Naked and dying under worlds of silent stone reaching for the moonshield that once upon us shone Naked and dying under worlds of silent stone reaching for the moonshield that once upon us shone The pain of reaching for what is out of his reach causes him to turn back to the moon (that subtle beauty already in his life) but the shame of his mistake (his betrayal of the moon) is too much to bear. Through his desperation that suble beauty (his dignity) has left his life. And how I lust for the dance and the fire deep of the nectarine sunset to drink spill me the wind and its fire to steal of the colors Forgetting the moon again he reaches for what is out of his reach. In hopes for salvation, maybe even forgiveness. I am... I am... I am... I'm the moonshield... He has failed to regain his dignity and so he's stuck in a loop that is described in the first and second verse. What do you think of my analysis? |
