Death Cab for Cutie – Marching Bands of Manhattan Lyrics 17 years ago
clearly the four lines of the song we are supposed to think about are these:

"Sorrow drips into your heart through a pinhole
Just like a faucet that leaks and there is comfort in the sound
But while you debate half empty or half full
It slowly rises, your love is going to drown"

These are four of the most poetic lyrics I have ever seen in a song.. I think that definitely the most important line is "but while you debate half empty and half full" because he's trying to say that you can take the sorrow that we're all used to and you can choose how to take it- either "half empty" (you can look at it in a negative way and believe that thinks will never turn around) or "half full" (you can believe that everything happens for a reason and ultimately things will work themselves out). ... that's how I saw it....it's a hard stanza to decipher.

What Made Milwaukee Famous – Sultan Lyrics 17 years ago
I love this song and this band. I think it's saying that you have to face up to what you do and all you can do to make up for it is to be a better person in the future and then and only then can you "bury [your past] deep in the ground".

Jack Johnson – Flake Lyrics 17 years ago
Like any song, this one can relate to a lot of people, which is the beauty of it. It shows how relationships aren't always as easy as they seem. On a personal level, it reminds me of my girlfriend. He always feels like there's something wrong, but isn't sure whether she "knows it's not right" or "thinks its fine." I think it's a one-sided relationship where he cares a lot about her , but she doesn't put any effort into it, and he's constantly lied to and knows there's something missing. It could be anything...
