I interpret this song in not a sense of breaking up but in a sense of someone possibly doing something or going somewhere and leaving their significant other. My girlfriend of over a year recently moved to Texas for a job and my job is in Ohio. It was a very fast process of her taking the job and I'm not sure if she thought about everything involved with moving that far away from each other. One thing that weighed on her mind about either staying for me or going for her job is that our relationship has/had been through a lot, and we have always made it through.
I heard this song for the first time while I was sitting in the airport waiting to fly on a business trip, and thought what it was going to be like to be sitting in the same airport waiting to go see her. The song spoke to me, I couldn't believe how similar the song lyrics were to what we are going through right now. I told my girlfriend if she felt about me how she feels about the guy she is singing about in this song, that we will be alright through this too. |

When I hear this song I think of my current relationship situation. I've had moments where I have treated my girlfriend badly at times so now she is considering breaking up with me because of it. The lyrics "I could have treated you better, better than this" really hit home to me on the fact I had treated her better many times before but I think I just took her for granted sometimes and failed to realize how badly I was hurting her. The first part also has great meaning to me because I feel if I would have addressed and apologized how I treated her earlier "spoke those words today" I wouldn't be in the current situation I'm in. |

To me this song is about a guy who is absolutely enamoured with a girl. He "needs to jump in the cold water" this means to me that he needs to be up front with her and tell her how he feels. Then whenever he finally does talk to her, she is also into him.. |

This song pretty much summerizes my past "relationship" the first few weeks I knew this girl, what we were going to have seemed "bulletproof." Then out of no where it was over, she just quit. Literally no explaination, just left me speechless and torn. "talking to whats left of you, watching what i say" pretty much sums up what I'm feeling now since I still talk to her every now and then but absolutely do not want to say the wrong things. Then the lyric "what happened to thinking the world was flat, what happened, yeah, what happened to that...WAS I WRONG" is like what the hell went wrong, was it something I did to make her quit, or was it something else... |

This song basically describes what i'm going through right now. This girl who I'm absolutely floored over. We are in what you might call a relationship in some ways, but we do not consider ourselves in a steady relationship yet. The lyric: "Part of the beauty, Of falling in love with you, Is the fear that you won't fall." While I'm pretty head over heels for this girl, I sometimes wonder what she is thinking about what we have. And absolutely the lyric "can't get my mind off of you" really hits home with me because from the first night I met this girl...I really haven't gotten her off of my mind at all...not good sometimes for grad student. It's amazing because i've gone out on a good bit of dates in the past 2 years or so...and just now have I found someone who absolutely makes my heart stop....crazy |
