the bits that hurt me the most are: 'devoted friends they dissappear - and I'm sorry about the phone call', 'to sort through old photographs...and a friend you used to know'. it makes every pain and regret and guilt I've ever felt feel completely fresh and new. and the bit about the phonecalls makes me think about the hundreds of times i called up my best friend/first love after everything had gotten fucked up, always hoping that things could be fixed, and it usually ended up in an argument - if she even bothered to pick up. and that makes me feel like shit but also relieved that conor also experienced that mistake because then i dont need to feel embarassed. this song also reminds me of that flippant toned song with the brutal line, 'loyalties change - didnt you know?' arghhh god this is one of my fav bright eyes. it makes me feel safer knowing that i and my stupid past are not totally insane. |

I have the smelly bum lyrics too. I first heard this song a couple of years ago when two of my friends, who were really close, 'broke up'. One of them sent it to the other on a CD! I 'broke up' with my best friend 2 weeks ago. At first I was sad but now I really really hate her! As much as I miss her... |
