Jay-Z – A Star Is Born Lyrics 15 years ago
"Wayne did a milli
50 did a milli
'Ye too
But what Em did was silly"

Does he mean that Eminem's record sales (Marshall Mathers LP / Eminem Show) were "silly" b/c they were so absurdly high?

Eminem – No Love (feat. Lil Wayne) Lyrics 15 years ago
To me, this track acts as a sequel to “Drop the World” off of Lil Wayne’s critically hated rock album, Rebirth. Instead of sounding as though these two were out with something to prove (that Wayne could create a rock album & that Eminem wasn’t washed up); instead the two are saturated with confidence and feel as though these previous haters have already been proved wrong. The production of “No Love” is solid (an interesting “emo” sample, props to the creativity of Just Blaze) and Wayne’s background screams sounds as though it was influenced by Drake, Wayne & Em’s live performance at the Grammy Awards where Wayne acted as Em’s hype man during Em’s verse. In my opinion, Lil Wayne is essentially bowing down to Eminem (at least for this song) and his lyrical talents. Ironically, I feel as though Em’s more abstract lyrics of songs such as “Won’t Back Down” are influenced by Tha Carter III.

On another note, with regards to the Kanye lines:

“Man get these whack cocksuckers off stage.
Where the fuck is Kanye when you need him?”

Eminem is referencing Kanye’s VMA mic’ snatch from Taylor Swift. Em slips in a pop culture reference that he is famous for — he even adds in the hilarious “I’mma let you finish in a minute” quote. In the past Eminem has stated he believed Lil Wayne to be over-hyped but after listening to his a few of his albums, came to respect “the Martian.” Same with Kanye, with his preppy background and commercial competition with 50 Cent (Graduation vs. Curtis), Eminem probably thought about starting something back in the day when he was out of the game (at least as much as he had ever been since ’98).
However, by this point in the album, Eminem has made it clear that he now respects Kanye & Wayne (see Talkin’ 2 Myself) and these lines are a clever plea for someone such as Kanye to come back into the spotlight and replace these “whack” less-talented rappers who are dominating the radio waves.

One last interesting aside, the lyrics “rock fellow” sound an awful a lot like Roc-a-fella…

This track is probably not the best on Recovery (I love Em’s tribute to Proof in “You’re Never Over”), but is definitely the most ambitious. Congratulations to Eminem on the comeback. I will be purchasing a copy of the LP on the day of its release to further support this recovery.

Lil' Wayne – Drop the World Lyrics 16 years ago
nah, wayne delivers a mediocre hook. his lyrics are clever but he sounds a little 50 and not the playful weirdo weezy that's made him such an anomaly in the game

em kills it though, can't wait for relapse 2; he's priming us with this and his verse in forever, absolutely dirty

white sky might refer to a "white cube space" or the (relatively) new environment that modern art is placed in

John Mayer – Heartbreak Warfare Lyrics 16 years ago
While this site is mainly employed to comment on the lyrics and their meaning of a song (in a nutshell, speculation of "Heartbreak Warfare" points to the most likely reading that this song centers around his on and off relationship with Jennifer Aniston. this song also acts as a metaphor between love and war that this album's concept is based on) I'd like to examine the production of the song. Back in April, John posted a Passion Pit song, "Moth's Wings," on his blog and pointed to the strengths of the sound of that song. I believe John is taking cues from production of this sort (and others such as Grizzly Bear, MGMT, and Mayer Hawthorne just to name a few) that has been highly successful as of late. While other songs fit the more '80s classic Tom Petty / Fleetwood Mac sound he claims the album emulates, this song's strengths lie in this techno-y sound that still has a somewhat gritty feel to it. Love it.

Also - the guitar rifts are awesome, will make for an awesome, powerful live performance.
