as odd as this may sound, i think it might be about a relationship. and it was a struggle for him to keep it going. "Now I know i'm accountable for the things i've said before! But I just can't shut up and get out the door!" he knows what hes said int he past is wrong. he admits it. but he can't just leave. he loves this person. he doesn't want to go. "SO LETS SING VOLUMES FOR THE SOULS THAT AREN'T FOR SALE" and so hes saying this is like dedicated to all the people who can hold up a relationship because he knows how hard it is to do it. all the souls that are taken; their soul mates; their partners. "Say the word and i'll be gone! Say the word and I'll be gone!" obviously meaning, tell me to leave and i will. even though i don't want to. "Wake up running in the only way I can This type of dependency turns a boy into a man" and this basically means that now that he's left, he can be a "real man". a man who just wants to get drunk and party. the typical man stereotype, because he doesn't have a woman anymore. i know it sounds weird because if you know the band, you know devin and hes a maniac but idk, it just fits to me. |
