i think you're all wrong. the whole thing seems to describe a kidnapping/hostage situation of some kind. read the lyrics- it makes sense: Where are we? What the hell is going on?- confusion about where they are/shock Crop circles in the carpet- indicates a struggle Hide and seek- when someone is missing, and the police search for them Trains and sewing machines- trains, transportation, i dunno, could fit. sewing machines i'm not too sure about either but but in the tone and the situations this song brings to mind it makes me think of silence of the lambs and the guy who makes a suit out of his victims' skin. Blood and tears- blood indicates violence, maybe someone trying in vain to fight for their life. tears, could be the tears of the victim and/or or the family+friends of the victim. Oily marks appear on walls- again, indicating a struggle Where pleasure moments hung before- this was probably done in someone's home, which used to be a good, safe place but has become a crime scene. The takeover, the sweeping insensitivity Of this still life- self explanitory. Mm what'cha say? Mm, that you only meant well Well of course you did- maybe the attacker had their reasons/justifications for doing it Ransom notes keep falling out your mouth Mid-sweet-talk newspaper word cutouts- if i'm right, this is the most solid indicator and it needs no explination. these lines are what first made me think of this meaning, as no other i've seen explains them. |

maybe i'm just the dark one here, but it sounds to me like it's about a suicide pact. forfeiting your place on this land is blatantly conveying suicide, and someone is obviously doing it with him. holding your breath could be like, waiting for something, like for things to get better. the undertoe getting strong could be all the negativity and stress, maybe depression, getting too hard to handle. no reason for you to come along=no reason to keep living. |
