This song just gives me the goosebumps. Andy Hull has a way of writing lyrics that are both shocking and inspiring at the same time. I think this song is basically about his guilt for becoming the person he is and he wants a clean slate. |

I can't believe I'm only the second to reply. More people should know about this band. They're amazing. Anyway I think this one is about how he lost his virginity to his girlfriend and then has trouble getting over her later. |

I'm pretty sure this song is about filling your body with any kind of substance (turning to drugs/alcohol) to help forget about a broken relationship you can't seem to get over on your own. This medicine….will bury me in unpaved sheets But I know a ghost and she knows that I know a ghost and she knows how to protect me The ghost, of course, referring to the girl he can't get over. "She knows how to protect me" -- he has no use for the substances when she's in his life because she fills him with happiness. But without her he needs the substances (medicine) to fill the void in his life. That's just what I think though.. |
