Opeth – Blackwater Park Lyrics 17 years ago
Opeth is like a Genre of it's own!! I can't really place Opeth in a detailed Genre. Just great metal, amazing music! They're just the most amazing group of musicians I've ever heard! Opeth is definitely a band I would look up to if I had the opportunity to have an ounce of such talent to write or play any instrument!

Opeth – Weakness Lyrics 17 years ago
I interpret this song as a suicidal attempt and/or also describing depression. "Weakness" being the name of the song can describe both perfectly. I'll break it down on where I came up with this....

"Found you there in the blink of an eye
(I) miss you"- my interpretation is finding happiness through sleep or death

"Turned away into a thousand dreams
Found out what they mean"- to me is the inability to remain happy in life, an then realizing that not being here whether in faith/spirits or in the physical means is the way. The line "Turned Away" are words spoken when you've been let down by some means.

"Lost you there in a moment of truth
(I) trust you
Gave away the one and only heart
(A) gift to tear apart"- I read this verse as the "almost" realization of the depression. The words mean to me as if you've almost come to realize that you can move on without the depression but then returning into the depressed state. Depression is somewhere people can become stuck, almost a feeling of comfort (but not really comfort). You give your heart to depression just to have it destroyed.- "..Gave away the one and only heart
(A) gift to tear apart..."

"Stain me, save me
Take me to my home
Hold me, show me
Take me to my home"- I read this as to take me back into my state of depression- it's easier to remain unhappy than it is to find the happiness sometimes. Or in some way it can also be interpreted as the want to die.

"Weaker now, drawing fluid from me
(You) kill me
I'm not afraid of what you have just done
(But of) what you've just become"- I really read this as the depression leading to a suicide attempt or cutting or some kind. This is what happens when you become weaker. When you can't hold on to this life anymore, the attempt or want of suicide or cutting yourself. Saying "I'm not afraid of what you have just done
(But of) what you've just become"- states not being afraid of the actual act of hurting yourself, not being afraid of dying or of pain, but afraid of how strong the depression has become. Now the depression is become a lot stronger and has taken over completely. When you come to a point where the act of self-harm or suicide doesn't scare you, that's when the depression has become the strongest, you've lost all hope all faith all everything.

These are obviously just my interpretation of the words, with Opeth, there really is no way for me to interpret the song word for word or line for line, it's all about the way you feel when you listen to it, but when it comes to the words this is what I got.

I look at Opeth as never being straight forward. Some words can be here and there, but the meanings are more hidden by metaphors and what not...Their music itself, without the words is absolutely amazing and you can almost feel what it is about without any words to it at all. For them to have this much talent when it comes to just the music, I can't really see them being so straight forward with words.

With Opeth, you really have to listen to the album as a whole, not as song by song. They all flow together.
